This is the best cards forum that I see , the others I’ve seen are dry people and I don’t mind the trolling here and there On here , some of it is funny but some people on here act like Broads . I would like To see more collecting show off Threads and I do like the real nba talk threads or issue threads but I agree “investment only in it for money “ Threads are weak and should have their own forum in BO to only talk investment instead of the cesspools of garbage that spew the first page . I don’t remeber The last time I saw a New Monthy pickup thread, I liked the top 5 new pick up thread up to the half year thread but that died. I know more people have bought cards for their pc or maybe they don’t have one anymore since they sell them and most on here don’t collect anymore .just my opinion

I havent read the entire thread, but I would say the lower level Facebook groups, IG "businesses" and general hysteria in this hobby has been incredibly draining.

It really has taken the wind out of my sails in this hobby. I initially got back into it almost 2 years ago to build a PC for my young son (https://www.blowoutforums.com/showthread.php?t=1311984)

Now it is nearly impossible to add anything worthwhile at a reasonable price. I feel like I am just selling all of my non PC stuff and waiting for the bubble to burst so we can get back to some semblance of "normal".

The day is coming, just like with beanie babies in the 90's, housing in the mid 00's or cyrpto a couple years back, once you see regular people showing up thinking theyre going to get rich, the bubble is going to pop.

Good luck trying to not get caught holding the bag with your base card "investments".

You didn't actually read what I wrote. 'They can't post until #x of posts' doesn't even make any sense.

They can respond in any thread.

I meant start a thread. Sorry for mis-typing.

And yes I did read what you wrote. Sorry I didn't like up to your standards in my reply. And yes they can reply. My bad. Had to be a jerk about it though didn't you

Someone has 200k in Lowry cards and is now trying to argue Lowry is better than AI to pump said cards. The level of pump on this forum is at all time highs.

Honestly I just hate Kyle Lowry. Acts so tough, but flops and flails like a fish.

Big time value add comment.

I'll show myself the door.

This one is so obvious to the rest of us, it's plenty clear . No salt needed in this instance!

Question for the old heads here: Let’s assume this is a bubble and it pops. And the sneaker heads, investorbois, pumpers, casual interest nostalgia guys, etc. ghost out. The breakers dry up, less YouTube content, fewer posts, prices of singles and wax plummet to like 2018 levels. Retail is readily available and panini actually sells online at MSRP. The forum is somewhat less active, but mostly populated by hobby purists. Would you take that?

Yep.

Won't affect any collectors. Just people trying to flip.

Plus we've seen it all before, the cream always rises to the top, why would we miss investerbois?

I still don't see anybody from BO cashing out because the money is important to them.

Required stages of every market cycle.

Need to purge the uninformed and get-rich-quick-ists, then capitulate with fresh blood.

+1

Not that a lot of the qualifiers don't apply to the old heads, but it's a great start for sure

This will never happen. Literally never. We are in an unregulated market that is an absolute cash cow. A market that revolves around two things that men love and will always love. Sports and gambling.

I don't think the premise was based upon the practicality of it actually happening. Just a hypothetical

Haha they will for sure quit if they are losing/not making money. “Gradually, then suddenly”

Blowout still cool. It's just like anything else in life, you may have to sift through some mockery but that doesn't mean it's all bad.

I'm a collector who likes to invest... so I don't mind if threads "devolve" into speculation.

I don't get mad at bots. This hobby taught me a long time ago that I can't have every card I would like to have. Rather its bots or people who have a bigger bank roll it just is what it is. All good. (I buy a bunch of great cards that cost less than $10... you don't have to drop thousands to enjoy the hobby)

Idk man... Beckett forums was great back in the day. Then SCF had it's time. Right now blowout is really good for bst and hobby talk. Tons of trustworthy people here.

Great breakers / group psa subbers.
Amazing PC collectors.
Always some box breaks to check out.
Savy investors.

Its a really nice place if you let it be.

Man, who cares about pump threads. ALL OF US HAVE BENEFITED FROM THIS SHIFT. Unless you don't know #@#@#@#@ about basketball.

Just sit back. Rejoice in the fact that basketball is becoming the global sport and keep hoarding all those little pieces of cardboard you were going to collect anyways. If you feel like prospecting and cornering the market on a player, cool. Allow the pump. People with a real basketball eye will prevail.

I understand this mentality but don't you feel bad for the people essentially gambling their money away in a time where the economy is already on the rocks? Gambling is a zero sum game, there's winners and losers but don't you think we have some responsibility to warn people about getting into stuff that has no collector floor? They could lose their shirt. I am sure plenty of us are so secure that we're good either way but I feel for the people who are at risk in this environment and my guess is they're the same people heavily prospecting on guys that have no real hobby value in hopes to hit it big.

I'm no white knight, I don't lose sleep over this but the thought has crossed my mind.

The problem with this is the fact that I can’t hoard all those cards anymore. I can’t afford to buy anything. I wasn’t really hoarding anyway...I just love ripping packs. That simple fun has been taken away.

I do hear you on the pack situation. That is undoubtedly what got all of us 70s, 80s and 90s kids into this hobby in the first place. A pack of prizm at your LCS is insane. No doubt. But to be honest, I never got anything real crazy except for an auto here or there. Let's blame breakers for the hike in sealed product. Put some blame on oanini for not having an online system that reserves sonething for small change collectors. But let's not all act like we haven't prospered. This hobby has turned into a financial market. Don't be mad, be glad you know the rules and the intricacies to take advantage.
