A "Tribute" to Aaron Rodgers. One of my favorite "off-brand" cards.

Sweet Gold! I've a few loose ones from that set... I want to say a Green /50 and a Blue /89 (which to me was always an odd serial numbering); thought it was weird they put the Black in the middle of that run at /75, but at least they made up for it with Red 1/1 (for whomever found that lucky Rodgers unicorn).

That set didn't get much PSA love... after all this time, there have only been two Rodgers cards graded (you currently have half of PSA's entire Aaron Rodgers population from that set, ha!).

Sigh... so many cards to grade still... so few winning lottery tickets to be able to afford it all.

That's crazy there's only 2 total graded. (There's only 52 total graded from the entire set) The red has surfaced before but I couldn't bring myself to buy a red 1/1.

Would love to hear opinions from Rodgers fans that follow him every game.
I always liked Rodgers and viewed him as HOF QB after winning the Super Bowl. I felt he was more of as a second tier HOF QB. He now is playing like a first tier HOF QB.

This season the biggest difference is he is not making the mistakes he seemed to always make throughout his career. What is the reason for this? Is it the coaching of LaFleur? I know LaFleur was hired last season. Maybe there was a learning curve with learning his system.

What is a good on card autograph card I can buy of Rodgers? Something sleek.

I think a lot of people would say McCarthy is/was a bad play caller. Rodgers seems to have more confidence in Lafleur's system.

I’m not sure he has really ever been prone to mistakes, I mean everybody makes them, but he’s only got 89 interceptions. He might hit 500 TDs before he gets to 100 picks. Anyway, a ton of the recent success has a lot to do with MLFs system. It is infinitely more creative than McCarthy ever was and Rodgers is simply flourishing in it now in their 2nd season together. A lot of it also has to do with the facts that this OL is as good/better than, the ‘02-‘05 or the mid-90s Packer lines, Davante Adams is the best WR they’ve ever had (Sterling Sharpe is very close), and Aaron Jones is as good/better than Ahman Green was. Toss in Rodgers being as sharp pre-snap as any QB in NFL history and no crowd noise.

So It’s a lot of things lol. To answer your question about a cool on card auto...2011 Topps ROH SB MVP. Used to have one and miss it dearly.

This was posted by a member in the "Mike McCarthy needs to be fired" Cowboys thread. I couldn't have said it any better, so I've copied and pasted it below:

From my experiences watching McCarthy in GB, this is what it seems to boil down to, and why he's not doing well in Dallas:

2010 - is innovative and has the players to make that innovation work. Wins Super Bowl
2011 - Continues with what worked in 2010. Does great in regular season, but was figured out in the playoffs.
2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 - Continues with what worked in 2010. Does well enough to make the playoffs, but doesn't go far. Decision making starts to unravel a little in 2014 with the loss to the Seahawks in the playoffs at the end of the game
2016 - Continues with what worked in 2010. Completely outclassed by the Falcons in NFC Championship game
2017 - Continues with what worked in 2010. League finally catches on that McCarthy is fully relying on Rodgers to win games
2018 - Continues trying to go with what worked in 2010. Packers front office FINALLY gets wise and lets him go

Dallas
2020 - Continues trying to get what worked in 2010 to work. 10 years of league innovation has passed him by. His decision making skills are really showing how suspect they are now that he doesn't have Rodgers to bail him out.

Had McCarthy's game management and decision making evolved with the league since 2010 he'd still be employed by the Packers and probably have 2 more Super Bowls on his resume.

As for a sleek auto, I'd go for the 2012 Five Star MVP auto /50. Best looking auto of his there is.

The one time he had a top 10 defense they won the SB. Says it all really.

15 years in a division w/cutler/trubisky/stafford/cousins/ponder and one super bowl appearance is a joke. People laugh about what brady had in his division but there was no peyton manning or ben roethlisberger in the nfc in rodgers era and brees was not a good postseason player. Most people who saw favres career would take him over rodgers all day.

Today is a holiday for Dr. King, so no negativity will be addressed here.

To celebrate his 5th NFC Championship game, I'll post another off-brand PC favorite.

After spending too much time in the MVP thread before Rodgers ice'd it... I honestly thought I'd be done with reading absolutely moronic hot takes the rest of this NFL season...

but I was wrong...

Quarterbacks not named Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady or Peyton Manning to win a Super Bowl, prior to Mahomes last year, since Aaron Rodgers has been the starter for the Green Bay Packers...

Eli Manning
Ben Roethlisberger
Drew Brees
Joe Flacco (on a Defensive led, superior, team)
Russell Wilson
Nick Foles (on a freaking miracle playoff run)

So, I can buy you throwing out Peyton's name... but to also throw out Ben Roethlisberger's name... like he's someone that honestly rates that much higher than Eli Manning, Drew Brees and/or Russell Wilson over the past decade, plus...

Bless your heart

I am an absolute sucker for Flawless Gems cards if the design of the card is done well. This was one I thought looked great, just showed up in the mailbox today.

Been out of the game for a while and was hoping you guys could help me figure out what I have here. Internet search didn't show this exact card and I didn't see it in any of the precious photos on this thread. Is this something I should look into getting graded?

2005 Topps 50th Anniversary Rookies Retro /50

Last one sold for either $500 or an unknown amount (that I know how to find) as it was $500 opener or best offer and is marked as sold on a best offer... was in a PSA 9 holder.

Chrome version, in a PSA 10 holder, recently did just over $12K

Sitting on a pretty nice card there, probably a couple grand easy... and I might be under selling it there!

Thank you for the quick response!! Was missing "retro" when trying to figure out what it was. Been in that case since I pulled it so maybe it's time for an upgrade.

^^

Unbelievable card there. Yes, get it graded before selling. Otherwise you're going to open yourself up to too much drama with it's condition. It sucks that you'd have to wait x-amount of months to get it back but that's such a rare card it may not matter much. Honestly, I have no good idea on value for that. Between 1-3k would be my best bet if it comes back a PSA 9.

So question for the Rodgers collectors in here, what do you all figure the price is for a Rodgers Contenders PSA 10?

Depends on the condition of the auto. On Rodgers' Contenders, it's all about the autograph. I would pay more for a PSA 9 with a flawless auto than 80% of the PSA 10's I've seen. His autograph on those is just impossible to get without streaks and/or off of the sticker. I've only seen one PSA 10 with a great auto. With all of that said, anywhere from 15-20k.

Just send it express - $65 and get it back in a month.

Sweet Contenders! The autograph isn't as streaky as others I've seen. It does go pretty far off the sticker but still, that's a great card.

The quad is even better, in my opinion. Strong autographs all around!

Packers fan here. Funny how the old guys get no love. All the Mahomes and Luka forums talking about prices every day and Rodgers here has had his cards rocketing since the start of the season but none of those people are in here discussing it. Happy to see you Rodgers collectors doing well. I just wish I had some more myself, as big of a fan I am I just never got into collecting football like I do baseball.
