i wish some of the veterans would chime in and give a bit of context/color to this current explosion. I assume they're too busy reaping profits after decades of hard work and research.
I agree with you which some sellers have really made some profits from their recent sales, but they also gave up their future profit in growing which they have no idea what's the future value is going to be. For myself, I sold a BGS 10 2007 Topps Chrome Refractor KD rookie for 5k back in 2017 or 2018 which I bought for $700 a few years ago. However, I made almost 7x profits at the time but if you check the price of that card today or a few years later when KD retires, I would probably going to cry, so I have enough confident for the Star Jordans.

Probably not after an 8 just went for $37k. Lol. I don't think he was ever going to sell at that price anyway.

Lol. Oh well. The one for 7.5 never got back to me. Every option has dried up for now.

Wait for the correction since this was the first time bump for Star Jordans.

Don't think there's going to be much of a correction for any of the Star Jordans, but especially not for the 101. Been undervalued for far too long and people are finally waking up to that fact.

The way that market is going for Star Jordan isn't in a positive way right now. I see there are many listings with very unreasonable buy it now price coming out since the bump recently, but unfortunately some sellers have no clue how much the Star Jordans should sell. They think our buyers are stupid enough to pay whatever they ask... I have got multiple discount offers each day since these sellers want to cash their Star Jordans while this bump still lasts, but nobody is buying them for those unreasonable price. So, I think the market for Star Jordans is cooling off a bit which is a good sign. Again, I would strongly suggest to those sellers who are looking to sell their Star Jordans: A reasonable profit is better than no profit, otherwise you will only drag down the market of Star Jordans.

No offense, but I don't think you know what you're talking about. Other than Fleer rookie cards and stickers the Star Jordans have been one of his most popular runs lately. How can the market be cooling off when a BGS 8 #101 just went for over $37k tonight?

What's a reasonable price (in the current market) for the 5x7 dunk super? The lowest bgs 9 on eBay is 8.5k BIN. They sold for under 2k a month ago. I think more and more people, like me, are realizing that they exist . I don't want to spend 100k on one card, considering there's no true rookie, and that the more aesthetically pleasing cards are somehow cheaper, I really want to pull the trigger if I see a bgs 9 under 4k.

If by cooling off, you mean exploding, then yes I agree.

For now, I think 1985 Star Slam Dunk 5x7 BGS 9 is worth 5k and I think you can get it for that price. I bought mine a bit cheaper but it was a little pricey at the time and I just can't deny it because it's so beautiful. The color is so rich, I even prefer the Slam Dunk over the 84 Court King.

It's such a great looking card. Just a real 10/10. Being 5 x 7 gives it that much more punch and it's clearly the best MJ photograph. I think you're probably right about the 5k, I doubt I'll have a chance to snag it for under 4. Damn shame, I literally bought my first card on eBay on 1.7.21 and had I focused on star jordans then (I'd need bigger balls, sure), I could have had 4 of these for 5k.

Last one sold for $4800 buy it now which I thought you could get it for 5k because I received a 5k offer from the seller not long ago. There are still a couple left but sellers are asking for unreasonable price, I would suggest you hold your horse for now. There might be a correction coming.

ugh! This sucks. The 7.5 sold for $35K. There are no 8s or 8.5s. Now there are only 3 7.5s available with the cheapest at $60K.

I understand your point, but I keep receive discount offers from some sellers which they listed their cards way too high comparing to market price, and more and more Star Jordans keep showing up on eBay which isn't a good sign. Everybody is cashing them out and this will bring more supply which will drag down the market. Star Jordans aren't Fleer #57 and the Stickers, there aren't PSA and many other financial groups supporting the market, the only financial group looking after the Star Jordans is the fanbase.

Just let it go, at least you still got a 101 in your collection. The only cards I have in 84 is the 288 and 195.

On the same page here, my budget was only in the $6k range months back so i grabbed a descent 6.

Side note that altered Star 101 is up to $12k with 1+ day left.

Makes no sense!

Ive been educating myself this past month. I knew nothing about my cards before. But its crazy whats going on. My husband agrees that the card market is in a bubble and a correction is coming, but he told me one of the reasons he was targeting this card, was that the prices did not reflect what other cards were going for. Well it looks like all that is starting to change. He got all excited cause I never showed interest in this stuff before until now. lol!

About 20 some odd years ago there was talk of why the Star Jordan XRC wasn't as valuable. It was known back then that the plates were not destroyed, so anyone with those plates can reproduce that card. The only way to tell if you had the real deal was the cardboard stock. There was a glut of them that came out in the mid-late 90s that tried to pass as original, but the cardboard stock was too different, to "new". Just try to obtain a cheaper original card from the set to compare feel and look.

Yup. He basically told me the same thing.
