Its not a stadium... it's completely open. Nothing is holding the balls back

Great for the Junger crowd, and promoting the game.
Or I think that’s what Papi said.

While I agree, I wouldn't put it past the league to use juiced up balls tonight. They carried really, really well.

You know you live in California when you see the post-game fireworks and your first thought is to hope the corn doesn't all catch fire and burn down the stadium.

Absolutely perfect in all respects - including the ending.

I'm on east coast and had same thought.

As I mentioned earlier in the thread if you’ve never been in a corn field the corn sucks out basically all the oxygen out of the air while it grows. I’m sure that didn’t hurt.

It's been VERY humid in Iowa the last week or so too. That'll help the ball fly farther also.

That's literally the opposite of what plants do.

You’re talking to a guy who grows about a thousand acres of corn every single year. That’s exactly what they do.

And you have grown men crushing baseballs... Abreu, Eloy, Judge x2 and Stanton etc. It's different.

Ha, that's clearly a typo. I can find no other source that says stomata absorb oxygen, and 1000 that say they absorb CO2. Are we really debating how photosynthesis works?

Since you posted a source I guess I should too. I'll limit myself to 3.

In other news, that was one of the most fun baseball games I've ever watched. When the sun was setting it was like a baseball game out of a Thomas Wolfe novel. It was just idyllic Americana for a couple hours. Also, the Yankees lost in brutal fashion so we don't have to worry that the Sox were paying a little too much of a tribute to the Black Sox by throwing the game.

Anyway I'm ready to move on from the plant biology debate...a corn field is a very humid place, we can both agree on that. Great game, I was pleasantly surprised the Fox Sports app let me take screenshots.

Yep, that's about the time of the game that I just shut up and soaked everything in and counted my blessings. Been a weird 16 months or so but that was just a beautifully executed event by MLB. And that in itself is a minor miracle.

Missed the broadcast since I was at another MLB game, but I did DVR it. Sounds like they will do it again next Summer. It would be great if they did it on the Thursday after the ASG as the only MLB game being played that day.

It's a nice novelty, but I hope they do not wear it out like what the NHL did for outdoor games.
