at a quick glance, two of the cards I WON and was invoiced for are now currently listed on Probstein's eBay page.

Would they rather have him finding backers for a new platform taking away from their business or having him back with receiving more clicks and revenue from him?

Businesses do not have feelings.

I can't believe they were let back on so quickly and so quickly got all their stuff listed. it was a nice couple of weeks of not seeing their auctions. ebay enjoys turning into amazon/temu and scam city. gotta make those investors happy

You don’t enjoy the “PSA 7 LOOKS GEM MINT!” titles?

but when business don't have ethics or follow the law they have lawsuits.

eBay allowing Rick back on with the prior knowledge he is a known shiller is evidence that could be used in a class action suit.

Effectively allowing shill bidding to occur on a platform is one thing (eBay and other platforms could perhaps be accused of this). But conducting the shill bidding yourself on the platform you own further shifts things toward the territory of "intentional deception for financial gain".

In addition, taking the site down citing "a system-wide technical issue due to high volume" while publicly exposed Apollo Server GraphQL APIs showed low bidder volume (aside from internally generated bids) could be considered false representation.

All true.....

But you have to understand that the US legal system is barely functioning these days....there aren't enough judges, so cases take years to work their way through the system...and corporations have far more legal firepower than even the best-funded plaintiffs.

Organizing a boycott would probably be cheaper and more effective than filing a lawsuit.

eBay let pwcc shill bid every card worth 10s of millions of dollars for years

You think they care one bit about it ?

The whole hobby is one big scam from wax to grading to auctions

You aren't wrong. I've went from buying cases, to boxes, to singles. And honestly I haven't even bought a card in months, I used to have at least 10 arriving weekly. I still have a decent Dingler and Riley Greene collection, and a Seider one in Hockey, but beyond that I've sold almost everything else.

I wouldn’t go as far and say the whole hobby is a scam. You can’t scam the willful, and as a hobbyist you must choose wisely

This is expected since you collect harder than anyone!

If you see a card you want and Ricky is selling it, just string bid it to scare others away and lower the price. Seems fair game with how Ricky operates.

the best-funded plaintiffs are class-actions. If a lawyer takes 10% of one winning plaintiffs case that isn't much if there is just one plaintiff. If a lawyer takes 10% of 10,000 winning plaintiffs cases then we're talking.

The beauty of a class action against Rick was that he did indeed harm more than just one plaintiff, apparently 10's of thousands of bidders over the years and all it takes to join a class action once it's initiated is merely a signature from any harmed bidder.

No its not, but unfortunately there are a lot of unethical people all over the world, not just the hobby. Anywhere there is money there is going to be people doing things the wrong way to try and take advantage of others. That is why you see it so much now. Our hobby is the biggest its ever been and there is more money flowing than ever before. Just don't transact with them. You can choose to concentrate on those looking to take advantage of you, or you can choose to concentrate on the good people in the hobby that do things the right way.

Since 2020, I've gone from (1) lazily accepting the narrative that Probstein shills his auctions to (2) believing its the individual sellers who do all the shilling at Probstein and other big Ebay consigners and finally to (3) with mountains of evidence accepting the narrative that Probstein shills his auctions.

(4) Both. Both Probstein AND consignors shill the auctions
