Didn't even cross my mind when I sent them in. The funny thing is that they put in base refractor autos that weren't announced either and COMC changed those no problem.

It's not even that big of a deal value wise. I'm more worried that someone is going to buy a card or two to finish the base set and then send them back when they actually get refractors.

You can still buy it directly through COMC using PAYPAL but we will need to agree on a price here because you can only buy it for the price I have it listed at on COMC. Just PM me and we can negotiate a price. Thanks!

Let's get back to discussing COMC

How do you all set your pricing? What is your expected return on a flip? When you submit what guidelines do you use for value, quantity etc...

Do you have a methodology for maintaining pricing? What's your process for turning over inventory? Do you have anything else you see that adds to your COMC success or failure?

I'd love to hear from some 80% off sale folks, or some not lowest on site folks because I never really understood them

I price as the absolute lowest unless there is someone that is just what I consider too low for the current market value, then I'll price as the second lowest and wait for his to sell therefore making me the lowest. Then again, if he is truly that low, a lot of times I'll just buy that card(s).

On a flip, all I care about is making more than I paid for it. I've bought plenty of $10 cards that I've later sold for $20+ but I've also bought plenty of .75 cards that I've sold for $1, both work.

My pricing methodology sucks to be frank, I don't go in nearly often enough and adjust so a lot of my items tend to be either way too low or way too high as the market changes. I currently have 42k + cards on site, just no way to stay on top of it. The only time that I really look at some items is when I get an offer on them. If I see that my price is too low, I'll adjust it up. If I see that I'm not the lowest, I'll counter back to the buyer at the lowest.

I'd love to run sales but like I've said before, I've got some higher end items that I'm just not comfortable slashing. I hate that sales are all or nothing, same as Amazon.

You can actually manually change the discount on those cards in the Promotions manager.

Ok, but then you are assuming that I keep a record of which ones they are. For all the crap I give COMC, I'm equally to blame as I've grown too big too fast and my management is no longer qualified to be running the show.

Whats up everyone?

I am looking for some advice on where is best to sell my lower end cards. I am talking game used of mid end players and low end players, numbered cards of all sorts (huge lot) and autographs of lesser name guys and press pass autographs?

I have been debating going back and forth with what to do with them.

Also I was curious as to where the cut-off was for low end with using COMC compared to ebay? Like I have game used of Drew Brees or D-Thomas those would be good to also go to COMC?

Thank you.

In addition to the sale I price lowest and run 15% off that and 20% auto accept to accelerate not create sales. My world is all about velocity of inventory. I sold 7,517 cards for $5,928 in December using my system, so I will respectfully stick to my system.
Couldn't agree more. MAYBE 10% of my searching time on there is for random cards I am looking for, the other 90% is dedicated to SALES, homepage, promotions and port sales is the only thing I need...

Right now, I have a mix of 30% overpriced redemptions that I'm waiting on, 30% overpriced cards I would rather keep, 20% fair priced, and 20% of just giving crap away, I may as well donate it!

Couldn't agree more - just like Fleer, when they were a "big business, of course they have insurance" and went belly-up. That cost me over $6,000 in redemptions. Wanting to know what happens if a Tornado destroys the building overnight, what do I get? My cards back in "moist" condition or they send me a check for $14 or............

Sounds like you are in the same boat as COMC. We all can hope both management s can work it out for the best.

GOOD luck

This is exactly correct. However, the differences between them and I is twofold. First, I'm self aware enough to know that the above is true whereas they are absolutely clueless to it and second, my deficiencies hurt no one else but me wand theirs hurt many.

Also, I am capable of managing my port correctly, I've just been unwilling to devote the time needed to do so. Are they in the same boat or are they lacking the capable piece as well? From the outside looking in, I can't answer that. We can all see that they have been managing poorly but with the exception of possibly Moe, none of us have the inside knowledge as to why.

they can cut me a cashiers check (they would waive the fee) for any amount I wanted or I could just write a check out of the account for any amount..so the 5k weekly limit on cash withdrawal doesn't bother me...id rather pay with cashiers check/check anyways over a couple hundred dollars...hard to prove a cash payment in court if the need ever rose lol

As a buyer for several year I have just started to price 100 cards that I sent in end of Dec. The reason for me selling is to get rid of some cards I have and put money into my PC. I do not plan to cash out any thing just buy more PC cards.

I priced them the lowest.
I plan to have only 100 or less card so it should be easily to maintain (Hoping)
I do know a couple of guys that set their prices what they think is fair and will let it set there until it sells.
Love to see some of the top seller/buyer at COMC give us some feedback in workings.

I think we need more people that are in it for the hobby and not the money.

I agree with you there. Without knowledge we have no ideal how bad / good they are doing. I would think that if they would want to give us a little good feedback from time to time.

You would think but you'd be wrong. Apparently our definition of "transparency" is completely different from theirs.

The quote came from one of my favorite comedy bits of all time plus it describes me to a T. "I was drunk in a bar, they threw me into public", "I didn't know how many it would take to kick my arse but I knew how many they were going to use, that's a handy piece of information to have", "They call me Tater Salad", so many good lines in that bit it's unbelievable.

I requested cash out transfer to PayPal on Sunday. As of today, I am still waiting on it. They are still slow on paypal payouts as far as I am concerned. I will be calling on Monday...like that will do any good.

As a player collector, COMC is an amazing almost mind blowing resource.

I recently purchased and took delivery of around 180 Bo Jackson cards as I started an actual non prospect PC of my hero

I have also purchased a couple of hundred George Brett cards to add to a collection my Father and I have worked on my entire life.

Last but not least I've found some very decent old Willie Mays cards to send to BGS and some nice rare Royals Bowman cards.

I have said before and I will say again, If they were able to allow for additional player collector functionality it could dramatically increase sales.

Myself and other flippers moving cards around from port to port isn't all the beneficial to the site. People like me taking hundreds of personal collection items as delivery is where the site shines.

My COMC strategies.
1) Find undervalued port sales. Research sold card prices using history points to price only cards on site at reasonable prices based on previous sales.
2) Focus on higher conditioned and centered vintage cards. New cards lose 80% of their value after their first year, so I'd rather not have my port dragged down by volatile cards.
3) Buy cards and reprice at least double purchase price, preferably 4x purchase price. Get those cards either through port sales, clearance sales, or watching the newly listed cards for bargains.
4) Put on a 50% sale week over major holidays, but accept most 50% off offers.
5) At the end of each month, check all my cards listed between 1.00 and 1.50 to see if I should knock them down to 75 cents to avoid storage fees.
6) See if I can find good cards either raw or SGC/BVG to try crossovers to PSA. I have a 15-card renewal sub coming up and have gotten some nice cards to send in.
7) Help clean up the vintage section by submitting correction requests for cards below EX condition to be moved to either PR/FR or GD-VG/EX buckets. The sellers that only look in their Inventory page to price based on other cards in the same grade may list a nice $8 card for $2.49 because there is a POOR card in the raw bucket for $2.50. So I would buy the $2.49 card, reprice at $7.50, and have the Poor card moved out of the bucket. Then probably sell it at a 50% off sale for $3.75 or through Amazon.

I price my items to sell. If I send it to comc, I don't want it anymore. While I won't just gives things away, I certainly price items that I send in to move.

A bad example of what I just said is my current port. I am fine with the idea of keeping the stuff in my current port. Most of it I purchased with my sales.

As for maintaining prices, I don't have a method. I just would go in from time to time and see that I am close if not the lowest priced.

I buy graded stuff for my PC. Anything within 10% of eBay value I will buy if I wouldn't mind having it. if a card sells for $100 on eBay, I have no issue paying $110 to acquire it on comc. I see it as though I am saving myself 10% since the cash out fee is 20%.

I am pretty lame when it comes to comc. I use it with the ultimate goal of paying a little money to turn my $1-3 cards into $25-50 cards.

On occasion I will buy an item on sale and reprice it for as low as 0% net profit (after Amazon/20%offer discount) if I can reprice it below the storage fee threshold, the item has a documented history of selling, and other sellers are 200-300% higher priced. I do this out of curiosity to see if other sellers will react and lower their prices (or buy me); to attract potential goodwill from a customer who may appreciate an underpriced item (I have experienced *Cart* sales of items that would have been cheaper if bought from other sellers); to get items out of COMC's warehouse. Yesterday I sold a card that was the best of all worlds: card had been at COMC since June 2009 or before and is now shipped out (Cart sale), the buyer got a card for 80% less than what it was listed at before I acquired it (black friday), and I doubled my money.

On the other hand, I will sometimes buy out the bottom on a card that has suffered the race to the bottom and attempt to see if the market can be reset to 300-1000% higher (sometimes it can). Or when I see an item repeat sell on Amazon, I may start buying other inventory and push prices up in an attempt to find out where the breaking point is. I'm fairly confident that people buying via Amazon do not use ebay, and may even consult Beckett full book value as the baseline for deciding to purchase.

my strategy is simple:
1. Looking profit from flipping each month to cover storage fee.
2. Find a hot player/team to sale and if i want to sale, price it the lowest in site.
3. The other cards that i don't want to sale, i do nothing with it. Just wait an opportunity to sale it.
4. Sometimes i give card for "free" just to let it go, ex: recently i sold card for $3 for a card that i bough in COMC for $45

Is the "Select" processing option new? I only remember basic and premium. I like the idea of the Select processing - it seems like it would be good for those submitting cards in the $10-100 range

Gotcha, I don't usually submit cards so I wasn't sure when that option was added

They used to have two week bulk processing at .35 - that was my favorite service.

Why are vintage cards of different conditions separated into different buckets, but damaged modern cards are in the main bucket

Take a look at Astro1983 port. Tons of damaged cards marked well below second lowest. Why not have the damaged version in its own poor bucket?
