I know he’s in a little bit of a slump, but I would still expect his Topps Chrome red #1/5 to go for a little more than this.

I was hoping for a miracle steal at $510. At least it went for higher than that...

Was just coming here to see who got it. I went as high as $650, almost went $700, but honestly with that seller's feedback I'm not upset.

I wasn’t too concerned about the seller. He’s a high-volume dealer who sells a variety of things, so a lot of his negatives come from buyers of shoes and Grand Theft Auto. On second thought... Maybe his Pawn Shop style is the bigger concern.

Regardless, that’s a marquee card. Sorry you missed it, but who knows—the winner may have been willing to pay a lot more.

Some of the feedback was auctions won being cancelled and relisted, things like that make me unwilling to spend money with the person/business regardless of how marquee the card is.

I honestly expected it to go in the 700-1000 range even with the market downturn, but it is what it is. I won a PSA 10 blue wave and PSA 10 green recently and also picked up another PSA 10 SSP so I've had some decent wins lately.

Yeah, $680 is kind of a disconcerting number. A red wave went for $710 in a SGC 8.5 slab - so I would think that's essentially a raw price. I'm not huge on Yordan, but that feels like a pretty significant undersell to me.

But if Yordan can't get back to drawing more walks...yeah, there's some risk of that in there, although probably not as far as being close to replacement level. He's only on pace to be a 3 WAR player this year, although if he can play left passably that might go up a tick even if his batting doesn't improve.

Can someone explain to me how his walk rate is still this low. He's actually whiffing less than than his first season. Here's a comparison from 2019:

Walk rate:
2019: 14.1% 2021: 3.6%

Swinging strike %:
2019: 10.4% 2021: 8.9%

Contact %:
2019: 75.9% 2021: 80.5%

Called Strike %:
2019: 16.4% 2021: 19.1%

Called Strike+SwStr %:
2019: 26.8% 2021: 28.0%

How does this possibly translate into a walk rate a quarter of what it was in 2019?

I'm still looking at it as an anomaly, it's just so far out of whack from his track record.

Hoping he picks it back up again. Astros seem like they'll be in the playoffs so maybe he will have a chance to hit a big homer at the right time. The injuries are a bummer, invested in Yordan quite a bit prior to the season. Love the Topps Chrome Sapphire I have below.

Same. I've watched 5 or 6 games this year and noticed he's been taking a lot of very hittable 1st and 2nd pitch strikes. Then he ends up chasing out of the zone junk for strike 3. Hoping he'll adjust and get more aggressive early in the count.

Just need to remove everything after the item number in the URL. When posting the links, I remove the "www." and then they seem to work.

If you're on your phone, I have no suggestions. These links don't work for me either if I click them on my phone and it tries to open in the app.

Strike % 2019 59.3% 2021 64.8%. That's the big problem I see...which theoretically doesn't have anything to do with him? Bregman went from 55.3% to 59.5% over the same period and is having a similar OBP problem.

I'm not sure where the bottom is in today's market, but I feel like I got this for a good price. I have a green 10 and an SSP 10 on the way as well as some CSG subs coming back in the next few days I'll be posting when I get them.

Yordan just absolutely crushed a ball over the center field wall at Fenway.

With all the talk about pitchers and spin rates over the past week, got me thinking about how Yordan could conceivably be more affected than the average hitter. Literally every pitcher got significantly better since the last time Yordan faced MLB pitching. Not more sticky stuff = Yordan raking. Just a convenient theory, but I'm sticking to it.

I'm sure there are a lot of hitters affected, look at how many pitchers may be using substances... Besides Bauer and Cole, there's guys like Darvish on video, others like Ohtani have had substantial spin rate increases, all of the no hitters... It's ridiculous.
