Doubt he gets to 400 next year. But he's got a great shot at 500!

Hope he can make it. Needs good health

Seasons 33-37. Average 25 a year

Seems very doable

I hope so, if he plays into his 40s he'll need even less per year.

Would finishing his career with 500 home runs but no ring be a win for Harper collectors?

I feel like a ring is more important for Harper's legacy, especially after Giancarlo Stanton and possibly other good-but-not-great hitters reach the 500-homer mark -- we're in the age of the long-ball.

If you started collecting any player since before their rookie year and he ended up with over 500 home runs, I’d say that’s a win.

I don't know -- Harper was very hyped before his debut. You would have to do some kind of financial calculation to determine if buying his cards early on and holding them was worth it -- remember, you could have sold during the height of the pandemic boom when prices were crazy high across the board.

In regards to his legacy, having 500 home runs but no ring feels hallow to me. He's only had two great seasons, which resulted in his two MVP awards. He's otherwise been good-but-not-great with plenty of injury issues.

I always saw him as a gritty competitor, but it seems like he might go out with a whimper -- playing 1B in his mid-30s on a non-competitor.
