This is dead on, many people are dead set on call up being the best time, but not always the case. I think waiting until call up is pretty risky

I'm sure he'll be alright.. dude has had a ton of pressure put on him since he was so successful in the minors and his "Number one prospect" status. He's probably trying a bit too hard out there.

Whereas you have a guy with a ton of talent like Senzel who people either are sleeping on or writing off altogether hitting home runs at call up.

I can't imagine Vlad pulling a Buxton.. but anything's possible.

This is also possible for Zion when he comes to NBA. You just never know how they perform at next level. More $$ will be spent on Zion though in folks speculating his dominance in NBA. if he is a bust..... yikes!

Just let Vladdy settle in. maybe first year, zinch but 2nd year or within his his first 5 years, 50HRs? It's like the lotto, you never know.

I think we're used to tracking time in the ten minute increments between eBay notifications and the end of the auction, but Vlad has been a major leaguer less than two weeks, and is 20 years old. He'll be fine with time.

Will Vlad card prices ever soar above the pre-call-up hype? I don't think Vlad has to care. Some of us do, but mostly the ones who bought in February.

I think Zion is an exciting college player, but I think a lot of people will lose a lot of money buying his cards early.

True, the move will be to sell in the first couple weeks when they are hyping him on ESPN.

I think he could wind up as the Shawn Kemp of this generation, but that isn't the face of a championship franchise so his cards are most likely a losing proposition.

Vladdy just signed an exclusive memorabilia deal with Topps Authentics. Hopefully he can stop pressing and start hitting.

To all those saying "he" will be fine, i agree if you mean "he" the baseball PLAYER. What about "he" the baseball CARD? I say unless he starts to produce very very quickly that his cards will plunge and not ever recover unless he does something really special really fast.

Too many people are invested in him for cards to drop rapidly. Also, most people who bought were in for so much less than they would drop to, they could afford to wait and see.

This. I’ve sold enough of my Vlad collection to recoup what I’ve spent in total on his cards that I can sit back and still PC him without concern.

People spending large on his cards are likely smarter than the people here panicking or writing him off after 33 at bats and aren’t panicking at all.

FOMO both drives prices up, but also lengthens the tail too. People who hold are afraid that as soon as they sell he will blow up. People who bought Bryce Harper his mvp year are still holding...

Incidentally despite a slight drop in the high end stuff (blues and up) the base autos, base gems, auto refs and mid tier product autos aren't moving.

Last to GEM chrome autos were $1100 RCR and $1225 (auction) for a min GEM

Was there confirmation from Topps yet if he will be a base card or SP for series 2? There was some speculative posts over the weekend about it but I had to go clean the pool, when i came back it was just pages of twinkie and poutine blasts and I couldnt find it.
