I agree. We unfortunately aren't going to get to get a healthy version of him for the remainder of this series but I'll take it over him not playing. I'm sure the risks have been given and if it was that serious he wouldn't be playing. Probably nothing a short IL stint wouldn't fix and he'll have the whole offseason starting any day now.

There have been many players who have remained in the lineup or in the field dealing with a injury and Freeman is one of them, Scherzer, Strasburg, Sandoval, Pujols, Cabrera, Moyer, etc. Freddie is odds in favorite for MVP while others struggled.

Tatis had to subluxate his shoulder four times before he opted for surgery.

Anytime your joint comes out of place, inflammation and scaring occurs.

Ok, Dr......but what is your point? Ohtani should get surgery? Or that he will never be the same player as before?

he just trolls every thread no matter the subject. Better to ignore him than to engage.

Ohtani says he will wait till the World Series is over, then get some more studies (imaging) done to determine if surgery is necessary.

For those who lived through Tatis’ shoulder issues, you are going to have to wait and see with Ohtani.

Don’t be surprised if the possibility of surgical intervention is necessary, and base your purchases/sales on that possibility.

Just reporting what Ohtani says.

But please, ignore if you choose.

“I haven’t had further conversations about the future plan,” Ohtani said. “I think it’s something that’s going to happen after the season is over, do additional testing. But in terms of how I feel now, I don’t think so.”

Leaving out the last sentence. Classy!

I didn’t know Ohtani was a doctor!

Tatis said the same thing….. three times.

Are you giving me and others on here advice about buying or selling Ohtani? Last time I checked you are not an Ohtani collector or active on this board. I am also pretty sure you don't buy singles from anyone you don't know because you are afraid they will be altered. And the main way you collect is buying current wax to bust.

So if you have any decent Ohtani RC that you want to sell for way below current comps because you are afraid he won't be able to perform in the future please let me know. I love buying Ohtani RC at a great price!

When Trueblue starts dumping his Ohtani cards I know its probably time to get out!!!

I pulled and own an ohtani auto.

I also don’t deal/trade with folks on message boards, sorry!

You make your own decisions regarding your cards, please.

I know you still have your Tatis collection, so what could happen to Ohtani during the offseason may not affect you. But it may affect others, especially those who didn’t follow Tatis’ career.

Again, choose to ignore if you wish. I didn’t address you specifically, but I’m always welcome to chatting with you, you’ve been a good sport.

I'm just quietly sitting here hoping people forget about that lousy bum shoulder asian guy. If prices do sag, it might be the only price break we get for a while.

I think it's great that there are people playing devil's advocate for Sho's success or outright rooting against him. Unfortunate for them, the market doesn't care about their opinion, as this is not a subjective prospect or five-tool just starting to bud talent. It's a HoF-ready generational star in his prime.

To that end I'm hoping every prospect that gets called up next season plays really well. The more money flowing towards prospects, the less being spent on Ohtani. Heck, some silly people might even sell their Ohtanis to buy those prospects!

We were talking about it today in our shop.

He could step away in 1-2 years and still make the HOF

Just like Tatis, if something happens to Ohtani, I am going down with the ship!

Thank you to the people who sold Ohtani for Luis Robert and Wander Franco back in 2020

Correction he's already in the HOF they would make an exception. You have to play 10 years minimum to get in?

Didn’t you hear?

According to Blowout Blowhards, anything less than his own entire wing would be offensive to his fan bois.

Curious if anyone has played around with future stats in regards to Sho and HOF, based on what he has done already. He is a unicorn as a pitcher/batter, but there is the assumption that he will stay on the field for stats accumulation as well as championship ring as it relates to HOF.

A bit of napkin math....using rough average of his 2021 and 2022 seasons as the basis of his next 6 years play (through the 2030 season)...13 wins/25 starts per year, 175 Ks and 40 hrs average, Sho could get to 115 wins, 1700 Ks and 465 hrs. Using Baseball Ref WAR, by 2030, he could get to 92 WAR (8 WAR avg next 6 seasons) which puts him at #43 all time...and that's him in his age 36 season (top 20 is reachable). A lot can happen/not happen over 6 more seasons in terms of constant high production but the possibilities are interesting. 500 hrs, 150 wins, 2000 Ks reachable milestones.

I was able to get Otani's autograph in person while he was still playing in Japan. I remember wondering if I should even bother driving downtown to get him, since how good could be really be?

I don't regret the decision now. Especially because I don't think I could afford one now if I wanted one.

This might be the only thing I have signed that I would consider trying to get slabbed, only because it's so neat.

Side note: back in 2018 they had a practice here in Hawaii for the MLB team that was traveling to Japan. Talking to some of the staff, it sounded like there was a chance that the Japan team was planning to do the same in the coming year or two (practice in Hawaii before coming to the States to play). COVID messed with those plans. With the way Japanese players are coming to the MLB, I hope they try again at some point. Especially because I doubt the Japanese team would be the zoo this event in 2018 was.

Are Ohtani autos live in 2018 High Number Heritage? I know they are live in regular 2018 Heritage but what about the high number boxes?

That signed scorecard is a very cool piece.
