Honestly I like the normal blue contrast to the shirt’s field… goes well with the sleeves, helmet, etc… that blue contrast matching the Royal’s (rich royal blue) trim seems more balanced aesthetically to me.

So I went ahead and took the Gilded plunge. I way overpaid for it, but it was the cheapest available. The pop count on PSA 10’s is surprisingly high (43!), but there’s still only 199 non-autos in total. I feel like this card is going to get soaked up into PCs, never to see the light of day again, if Witt’s career continues at its current pace. It’s a really nice card in-hand.

the MLB Tonight guys talked about this the other night and decided good comps would be between J-Rod and Tatis type money.

That said id Witt wants to win championships or at least have a realistic shot at 1 KC is not the place he wants to be. If that is his primary goal and money while nice isn't his priority he should play out his contract and head to the Bronx in 2028-2029. by that time either Volpe will be a star or a bust. If he's a star then move Witt to 3B.

I was thinking about this awhile back. If I'm running the Royals, I'd be fine giving Witt something like the Tatis deal. But in a parallel move I'd give Salvy a slight bonus and structure the contracts so that Salvy is making more than Witt for the next 2 years. I think that sends everybody the message that Salvy is still the leader, creates a natural transition, and keeps the heat off Witt so he can continue to grow in the near term. Salvy was massively underpaid in his prime so giving him a slight bump isn't unreasonable and would be well received by the fans and in the clubhouse. Witt is the total package though so locking him up has to be priority #1.

With the way Topps bungled the Witt/Julio rookie card/RC logo card situation, I think Gilded has a chance to be their go-to RC logo cards.

Thanks! What I paid for the 10 was only a small amount higher than what raw auctions are going for. But no where near as low as what you and pewe paid for yours. You guys were ahead of the curve on that one.

This might be the hardest i've laughed since arriving in Japan!

They are attempting to trade Salvy aka salary dump right now and highly unlikely Witt would sign an extension with the Midwest Milquetoastians unless they move to Nashville after the vote flops
