I don't get too deep into analytics that's not my thing. I'm too old for it i guess. Points rebounds, assists, blocks and steals is what i know and grew up with. That's all anyone ever relied on or cared about before the money ball/analytics era. That and the eye test of course.

Brunson is a very good player he compliments what the team is trying to do. He knows the system and fits in well. He'll never be a Kyrie, Harden, DWade, Shaq, Pierce, R.Allen, Thompson etc. though.

That's always been the argument that gets misconstrued when people would say Doncic needs more help. It's not that we don't think that Brunson and Dinwiddie aren't good players, they are. They are not All-Star HOFer caliber talent though like just about everyone else who's won a championship had. It always used to be you need 2 stars then it was 3, some teams have 4.

I think the players have priced themselves out and we'll start going away from super teams because it's unsustainable. Unless the team is uber rich and can afford to pay $400 million a year in salary/luxury taxes. I don't think that is how Adam Silver intended it but the problem will start to correct itself with $40-50 million year salaries.

I can see Brunson as a great 6th man off the bench on a championship team in the mold of Jamal Crawford or Ginobili. But I'm not sure if he'll accept that role right now, especially if he gets a big pay day (or maybe he will if he gets a big pay day).

Can he be the #2 on a championship team? Well, he'll at least have 1 crack at it these next few weeks.

lol, he hasn't even been a starter for a full season yet.

Is Luka ready to be the #1 on a Championship level team? I don't think so, not yet. Definitely on his way, but neither is ready I don't think. Regardless, it should be a fun + interesting series.

Probably not, but hard to say... again, he hasn't even been a starter for a full season yet. He did about as well as anyone could, given where he was at the start of the year. The fact that he continued to thrive and made the team better once he was starting is a very good sign, though.

The stats suggest he played like a good quality #2, and he's going to expect to get paid like one, so we'll see what happens this offseason. Obviously, the more they win, the more pressure there is on Cuban to open his wallet up.

Are you serious lol or joking? Luka has already been on a championship team albeit the euro league but come on no stage is too big for him, I'm way more concerned with the others stepping up every game to give him some help.

Right. I have my doubts on Brunson. But yeah, should be a fun series. Didn't expect the Mavs to come this far.

Also, Luka thrives under pressure. However, so far he's really just been the underdog. No one really expected them to beat the Suns or even beat the Clippers in the past. So he played great because there weren't a lot of expectations on the Mavs.

It will be interesting to see how he deals with the pressure of expectation next year when the Mavs will inevitably be picked to be a top 2-3 team in the West. He was expected to be an MVP favorite this year and came in out of shape.

Does anyone know if his Real Madrid teams were favored? Haha.

Anyway, maybe I've been thinking about Luka too much these past few days and I'm overthinking it.

I was amazed Slovenia got as far as they did in the Olympics. A blocked layup away at the buzzer from playing for Gold. A country of 2 million people. That's the population size of Nebraska for comparisons sake.

Just imagine if it was the former Yugoslavia and all of those newer independent countries were one like they used to be. We could of had Doncic and Jokic together on the same team along with a bunch of other players.

Mavs and Celtics. Both have momentum, believe in teammates. The only way Warriors win the series, if Draymond starts nut kicking and play bruiser ball. The Warriors would never fold like the Suns.

But this is nothing if he can get Mavs past the Warriors.

This is such a fun time for us Luka fans.. but stressful too. Just think how far we came since "0-2 vs the suns and Luka just want to eat pasta."

I keep thinking back to the beginning of April after he got injured - I honestly thought his season was done because the Mavs would be out the entire first round.

Let me guess.. there will an instance where Draymond Green takes a swipe and "accidentally" gets into Luka's eyes. Such a dirty player. Almost guaranteed to happen.. (like the number of times he did it to LeBron).

I was surprised he was so complimentary about Luka on his latest podcast after the Mavs beat the Suns. I don't doubt that Draymond will try to use his antics like always, but I don't think they'll be malicious.

The last time the Mavs and Warriors played (and the only time after the trade deadline) - the Mavs mounted a 20 point comeback victory @ GSW.

No Draymond and no Klay. Dinwiddie had himself a game along with Luka. Gary Payton II had 13 points and was +9. Mavs bench dominated.

Just curious, if we pretend Luka is the next GOAT level player, after players like Jordan and Lebron, would his silver Prizm be the equivalent of Jordan's 86 Fleer rookie and Lebron's 2003 Topps Chrome rookie? Or does Luka's Prizm base get elevated as the signature rookie to have? Jordan really just has the one rookie card so that isn't really a debate or good comparison, but Lebron had a lot of rookie cards to choose from, so comparing Lebron it makes me wonder what I would pick for Luka's signature rookie card ... or maybe there is just too much for ultra modern and there will be less emphasis on that one signature card like the other GOATs have. (Just a fun hypothetical, not saying Luka is on a GOAT level right now by any means)
