What are the estimates that '21 Brooklyn Collection boxes will run? I personally missed the email about last year's release of that so don't recall how much Topps sold them for and how many boxes.

Boxes were $150 each with a limit of 2 per membership.

$600? Screw Topps. They deserved to lose the license and are now just miking every dollar to line Michael Eisner's failed SPAC pocketbook until Fanatics either acquires them or they are stuck selling Star Wars and GPK Series 243.

I honestly hope Fanatics does not buy them and they go under.

Charging double what they charged last year and triple from 2 years ago is such a rip off. I would have paid the $300. But 600?

FU topps

Is it absurd they increase the pricing when it's the last year they can make cards?

Is it a ripoff if they increase the pricing and still sell out in less than half an hour?

No it's not. They were too cheap, it's a correction. That's why everyone wants in. They charge more because they can. It's pretty normal that businesses do that.

I'm sure you can do your job for less money. Go take a voluntary pay cut.

Oh well at least I doubled my allotment.
Honestly, it bothers me that people are allowed to get more than 1 membership, I would think Topps would be able to identify duplicate accounts with the same billing information, but oh well.

Topps can't stop bots from buying multiple boxes of a hot product that has a limit of 1 (ex. F1 chrome). As long as the product is moving they probably do not care.

Am I the only one that thinks Topps has fire releases in store for their last year? Topps has been the face of baseball cards for decades. I can understand being cynical these days but Topps could easily go out with a bang as a thank you to all the loyal collectors over the years.

I'm talking going all out with special edition sets and cards of legends - Ruth, Mantle, Wagner, etc. Also, could Topps final year of licensed baseball be worth a premium down the line? Of course this is all speculation but I try to stay somewhat positive.

What makes you think they’ll stop making baseball cards? They could easily keep going with unlicensed just like panini. Certainly wont be as desirable tho. I’ll concede that. They can still get bought out by fanatics as well or panini and keep the club going

Topps won't be doing it as a thank you to loyal collectors but to make as much money as they can before they cannot.

IMO, we'll see new sets (including non-sports) introduced. Why? Because why wouldn't they?

Of course I'm just assuming. If they go unlicensed, I'll pass, as many others will. Their demand will drop greatly as will their profits. So they're trying to make the most while they can.

Yes Fanatics can buy them out. That's one last check. They still need to maximize profits before then. The more they profit now, the higher their buyout price could be.

It'll depend what Fanatics wants to do. If Topps gets bought out or forms a partnership with Fanatics they could just keep chugging along.

It's gotta at least be worth it to both Fanatics and Topps to sit down and try to work something out. Fanatics has the rights, but Topps has the long time relationships/distribution network.

Of course, maybe part of the reason Fanatics bought the licenses is to revamp the whole thing but I still think it is worth the two of them (and Panini) to attempt to work something out.

Hard to say. The membership emails specifically say there is an all-new configuration for Brooklyn Collection

They couldn’t easily produce unlicensed cards because they won’t have a deal with the players association to use their name and likeness. Having the rights to players but not team names/logos is a much different thing than having the rights to the team names/logos but not the actual players.

To continue they’ll need some kind of licensing deal with fanatics.

Still a lot of value at $600…..may make that back on selling one box offered next year…

With Fanatics taking over the MLBPA License in 2023 and Topps retaining the MLB License through 2025, there will certainly be a discussion between these companies for 2023-2025 MLB Licensed Player trading card production. Whether anything comes of it is something else.

They could produce minor league cards I.E. Bowman, but with minor league uniforms. I could see them doing this.

$600 seems more than fair. If I'm Topps and I see people flipping F1 and UEFA for 10X+ MSRP, I would raise prices as well. There's so much value in this membership even at $600.
