Can someone explain the all out blitz call on 3rd and 27 on the last drive??? One of the worst defensive calls I have seen in a while.

Sure seemed that way... They definitely gave the Bengals a lot of help

It was probably the worst defensive call of the year.

Bengals are built to beat KC though. Spags does what he does defensively by blitzing. Unfortunatley there are 3 WR1s on Cincy that can beat you, nullifying your blitz strategy

I can't be the only one that thinks they should've went on 4th and 6 at midfield.

Don’t agree that Bengals are built to beat KC. KC was in control most of the game on the road. I don’t think they have the defense to be a real threat come playoffs. I give cincy a ton of credit for the win today but a lot of things went their way.

Only 3 points in the 2nd half. Ouch.

When they needed points they got them. Unfortunately Reid didn't think they needed them most of the half.

First game being officially Mahomesless and it wasn’t any less stressful. Chiefs really screwed themselves. Going from a bye to probably getting the Colts or Chargers in the 1st round now.

Not sure where the offense went in the 2nd half. More importantly, the 3/27 defense call was mind blowing.

Gotta tip your cap to Burrow and Chase.

That was a super fun game.

As someone who has Burrow & Mahomes cards I don't feel like there were any losers here. The Bengals & Joey B just stepped up. Mahomes & KC did not lay an egg and I'm not worried about them.

One of those games where the last team to have the ball was likely to win

If the Chiefs had half the defensive talent the Cowboys have, they'd be a real Super Bowl threat.

I can’t live in a world where the Titans are the 1 seed.

Control for most of the game? I must have been watching a different game…….

Lol…Joe Burrow even knew the refs were helping them out. A quote from his post game interview: "We got a little lucky at the end, we got some calls." yeah, there were a couple defensive lapses, but the refs dictated the path of this game. I’m not too worried though because the next one (if there is a rematch) will be at our place with a playoff caliber officiating crew and not some first time ragtag group of jagoffs like today.

Don’t be so sure of having home field advantage next time.

That is typical of Spags. His defense is entirely built on blitz heavy and pressure heavy, leaving guys on islands. If you have a QB capable of making throws, they will eat it alive.

All they had to do was play a quarters defense though and force a short throw, and then a long field goal attempt with 3+ minutes left.

What happened with the Chiefs offense in the second half though. 5 legit drives in the first half(their last one with seconds left I'm not counting), 4 were touchdowns.

This is what I'm wondering. What the heck happened in the second half?

conservative play calling, Patty off on throws? Drops?

It was a tale of two halves: In like lions, out like lambs.

I think this is being blown way out of proportion. They had 3 drives in the 2H, ran the ball well but had a bad drop by Kelce which put them in a 3rd and long on the first drive, a holding call which put them in 3rd and long on the second and scored points on the 3rd drive. When teams drop back and play coverage against KC, drives will always be vulnerable to mistakes like penalties and drops. It happens to all teams.

It has gotten to a point where people expect KC to score every possession which just is not a reality in the NFL and is silly to expect.

With how KC's defense played from the first quarter on yesterday they needed to just about score on every single possession. That defense is going to cost the Chiefs in the playoffs.

The 3rd and 27 blitz may have been the dumbest coaching decision made all year.

Does AB have to clear waivers? Chiefs should sign him if they can. Only need him to behave for one month. Worth the risk, as I think it puts them as the clear favorite in the AFC.

I was thinking the same thing. AB + Tyreke + Kelce is probably the scariest WR trio in the league.

AB + Tyreke might also be the scariest legal duo too but, hey, go get another SB for Patty!

Is AB going to get another chance this year if at all?
I guess if Flash Gordon can do can AB.

Am I the only one who thought the Chiefs should have let the Bengals score a TD with 3 minutes left when they were at the 1? Exactly what I thought would happen did. Bleed the clock for a last second FG. As another poster said, the biggest concern was the drops. The drops and turnovers are what really ruined their season early on and we absolutely cannot have that in the playoffs. Here’s to hoping the Texans relish the role of spoiler next week.

Weird feeling for sure when the financial investment is gone. What is your strategy? Brady and Lebron?

Gonna be tough with the D allowing the 5th most passing yards in the NFL. Defense has played great lately but against top QBs, those guys get theirs.

Playoffs matchups against top QBs will be shootouts. Which is why I’d much rather play the Colts, Pats, or Titans. Not the Bengals, Chargers or Bills. If chalk holds, looks like it will be Chargers, Bills, then Titans. Pretty rough road. Bills matchup will look completely different with a healthy D line and linebacker group, and a much better running game. Hoping Vegas pulls out a nice miracle against the Chargers in a winner gets in game
