She's not though. Maybe by US standards, but she could double / triple her wages in Europe, and get Champions League football.

Just like Girma.

If you're young and talented, what's the point in staying around the NWSL these days, when you could be playing for Barcelona, Arsenal, Chelsea, Bayern or Lyonnais?

Are you new to football? Do you think the $1.1M transfer fee is being paid to Girma, and not to her club?

Salaries are not public, but your numbers are way off according to any available info.

Trinity is relatively underpaid even by NWSL standards, given her stature, only because she signed her contract 3 years ago, becoming the first female player to sign a $1 million contract. But that was $1M+ over 4 years. She would double her wage as a free agent now if she were signing in the NWSL. Sophia Wilson reportedly earns more than $500k per year.

And the NWSL had record attendance last season. What was that you said again about WSL attendance? Oh yeah, you said this:

Quote:
What's the average attendance looking like in the US?

It's down in England (WSL) by quite a lot.
If I grant that you're right about that, I wonder which environment would better support continued wage growth?

That would be my guess, and I think it would be a good experience for her.

It just seems like she loves her family too much though (specifically her mom, brother and half-sister) to stay overseas for any extended period of time, regardless of the money.

Also, shoutout to Coop for this beautiful goal:

Maybe a dumb question and sorry if it’s been asked before but does anyone know Marta’s RC? Conventional wisdom says the 09 SIFK or maybe the 2010 Upper Deck if you don’t like magazine cards. I just really thought she would have something earlier, from her time in Sweden maybe? I believe she’d already had several Ballon d’ors (4?) by 2010.hard to believe no team or anyone had some local set release.
Appreciate any insight.

Marta has unfortunately never won the Ballon D'or.

She Won multiple FIFA Womens Player of the year awards. They are different.

Just bought a box, not a bad price for the type cards you get IMO..

Women's Champions League semi-final played today with a lunch-time kick-off.

Sadly shows there's a long way to go.

A long way to go for the NWSL, as well, but I'm enjoying the season so far.

Ally Sentnor's PK gave Utah their first win recently:

A couple of my Sentnor cards:

I’m super shocked that women’s soccer isn’t very popular in the US considering this display.

California still doesn't get it. Immigrants are fine, illegals are not but sure let's riot and burn down our city for people that shouldn't even be here.

The problem is, they are going after people that have every right to be there. Action first, questions later if you're lucky.

Unless you’re a direct descendent of one of the Indigenous peoples of the Americas, you have likely benefited from open immigration yourself, or rather, “illegal immigration” unless your family came to the States after the 1920's. You’re built on it, can’t function without it and will have to learn to live with it.

One thing is for sure, the solution isn’t demonising people, it never is. Hate breeds hate. Solutions need to be found - adult solutions, not culture war ones, to either integrate these people into society legally - a society that in the stark light of day completely relies upon them, or changes need to happen to how America goes about its business abroad. The world would have been a much different (and likely safer) place had many countries gone about their Empire building differently after the Second World War.

Militant immigration policies hurt everyone. Migrants, citizens, businesses and Government. The only winner is criminals, cartels and international crime syndicates.

Well I disagree with every single thing you said and it's not really the place to have the discussion as it will ultimately turn political and I would just avoid that but I will address one thing.

You said it's due to hate, I assume like the hatred you clearly have for the USA as it's well documented here so i would ask since you are the expert on that.

Is it also due to hate that the Vatican City will fine people that are there illegally $10-25k, ban them for 10-15 years from Vatican City and can even throw them in jail for 1-4 years or is it only hate when the USA enforces our laws?

The previous Pope called us "inhumane" for doing so. What a hypocrite like the lot of them for judging us for the very thing they enforce as well.

No T-shirts to fight for illegals in those countries sadly.

You might want to take a step back and review some of your posts. There's a consistent tone of anger, and it often feels like you’re quick to take shots at Americans or U.S. soccer in general. Whether it’s the USMNT, USWNT, or the NWSL, your comments often come across as full of anger.

It’s become rare to see a new soccer game announcement on these boards without you expressing frustration or throwing in a “make it stop” remark. Maybe it’s worth reflecting on how that comes across to others in the community.

I don't know anyone that doesn't support immigration the legal way.
