Happy to report 2018 low and mid end Ohtani RC are holding pretty steady this off season. Most cards seem to about 75 to 80% compared to when he was playing in the WS (except PSA10 base RC). So far I am happy to report Ohtani seems to have raised the floor of these cards.

I still routinely find gradable low end 2018. Timing of his injuries was such that the 2020 grading boom just sailed right on by him and left a ton of his stuff raw.

Holding steady and being 75-80% of prices a couple weeks ago aren’t the same.

I would say 75 to 80% are pretty good. Last year prices fell over 50%.

Still only 2 weeks removed from the postseason. If they can stay where they are at now through the entire off-season then I'd call that a success.

Well, I think our question was answered on the BCA Auto signed in kanji. Goldin listed it as wiped and re-signed with a LOA from Beckett. Guessing that PSA refused to grade it since it was never confirmed, so the owner had to go to Beckett

WOW, that is big news...

That card's "history" came out on X/Twitter....the owner of the card admitted the auto was wiped and signed in kanji later on. PSA/Nat Turner was asked about it and Nat said the card, if submitted to them for grading, would receive an "Altered" grade.

Does Sho still do signings? Thats got to cost a pretty penny

Also chrome cards being wiped is a good reminder to approach autos skeptically, even on certified auto cards, on high value cards

There have been a couple Topps Chrome autos that were definitely re-signed and graded by PSA. I don't want to pinpoint them as I think one of them is/was owned by a member here. Trust your own eyes and ask practical questions

For sure. I know theres a Bowman Chrome Trout for sale on a certain industry marketplace that was wiped and resigned. A crying shame.

2Bits… congrats! I love the all star paper card opposed to the chrome. I prefer the team name and logo. The Black boarder is awesome too. I know there’s an all star on card auto as well…
