Sunday's parade had some rain on and off. I learned from the last 25 minute super soaker and positioned my car where I could pop the hatch up and take photos sitting in the back under cover of the hatch. I actually had to do that twice during the parade as the rain went from a light drizzle to monsoon for about 5 minutes twice.

I was giving him the benefit of the doubt, but having a mug with your dog's photo on it, just put him over the top. At least he has something in common with old, unmarried cat women.

It rained on Saturday as I made my way to Cresson, PA to railfan but cleared up when I arrived. Trains were slow in the morning, but picked up around 11AM. I stayed until about 2 and then headed to East Freedom for the PA Central District Association parade. It was a good parade as it had most of the Blair and Cambria County fire departments in it and they have lots of unique apparatus being up in the mountains. It sucked that the host department didn't put all of their apparatus in though.

Got to my Mom's in NJ around 10PM that night.

The weather Sunday was great until I got about 20 miles from Central Islip on Long Island. Then the heavens opened up. The forecast kept changing for the 1PM parade time. Like I said, I parked with my car angled so I could pen the hatch just in case and shoot from under it. It rained on and off during the parade; some drizzle, some monsoon-like. It was a decent parade but smaller than the previous New York State Drill parades. Too many marchers and chiefs cars and not enough apparatus. The drill team winner departments used to all dump the house too and they don't do that anymore. Parade was a little over an hour long.

Got home around 9:15PM last night. I hit some bad storms in NJ and again in Baltimore.

Cresson has a railroad-themed hotel in it. There were people on the porch there watching trains. I heard the trash train from NJ to Ohio coming on the scanner and knew it must have had something special on it, as all of them got off the porch and climbed the embankment to get photos. It had the Monongahela heritage unit on it.
