F1 Lights Out was more an ondemand release for the European market, I'm a little surprised any made it on to the US site. There are several similar UCL sets throughout the season too.

I have no idea why Topps calls certain releases on-demand when they're clearly not print to order.

The only thing I can think of is that if they don't sell out they can redistribute the parallels, but yeah it's been a long time since a set like that hasn't sold out.

It was a sneak attack. I saw a tweet from Topps UK at around 6:15am MST yesterday and it was a mad rush to pop from each Topps Europe site and try to get a few before they sold out.

Yeah regardless of intentions it would be great for all potential customers to know when products will be dropping for any given week. Panini is constantly sending out emails that include what time their new releases will be going live.

Dude, it's crazy! $45 on release and the secondary is selling for $230! The lowest was $125. People who are ripping have to be hoarding for the eventual PSA price lower, right? I mean, is there any juice in these sealed long term?

I hear ya. I was scrounging around for any potential info on that product since they first announced it with a "coming soon" tweet/instagram post a few weeks back. The surprise release isn't fun. I don't like having to be on my toes ready to pounce for these things.

I’m on the west coast and normally would have missed this. I happen to be on the east coast for work and managed to hit boxes at 36k feet while flying from DC to ATL. East coast has such a huge advantage on any release whether it’s target, topps or whatever.

I dunno. I got some UEFA Inception at release. I thought the secondary prices were crazy at $450, and I wouldn't be able to justify ripping them, so I pre-sold. By the time they arrived, they were selling for like $1K.

I don't really know much in terms of the expected return on grading and selling the cards or holding it sealed. I just like F1 and think the cards look awesome so I wanted to rip some boxes for my own enjoyment.

If I was ripping then I would personally be sending some in for grading as the price lowers.

Look at the price of a box of 2021 Topps F1 (paper with no autos)--$630. And that is with a 200 card base set that includes managers, cars, F2 drivers, and constructor logos. The LO is a smaller checklist with only the F1 drivers. I don't think this will be going down since there is a dearth of F1 products. As long as there is not an influx of several products, I think prices will stay high on these. But that is my guess.

This happened with the Bowman MLS onDemand last year. There was clearly a set amount that was going to be made (based on parallel numbers). However the print run was so short that each box went from getting 1 parallel to them send us extra parallels a few months later.
