2018 Topps Update "Japan's Finest" card is a card that uses very similar image.
Also, 2019 Topps Chrome SP of Ohtani that has him pictured with Ichiro.

Photos of all 3 cards were probably shot at the same time.

Its still beyond my comprehension what he's doing. He's 8th in wRC+, tied for first in hr, 3rd in RBI, 16th in hitter WAR. Oh and he's 3-1 with a 2.58 era and 82Ks over 59.1 innings. This should be the biggest story in all of sports.

Pretty sure from a national exposure standpoint he is the most talked about player in the game today. And from a hobby standpoint his cards have gone up the most this year. I would say he is the biggest story in baseball. And I agree he should be one of the biggest story in sports, but I think most of the basketball crowd could care less.

Yes- the language is ambiguous so that Panini has wiggle room, but your response completely blocks out a possibility that the language used does not

I've collected Basketball and Football cards pretty consistently for over 15 years. I only started collected baseball cards in 2018 because of Ohtani.

He is to me the most exciting player to watch in baseball, and maybe all of sports, of my lifetime. I think any basketball collectors that haven't taken notice yet will soon.

This is history we are getting to watch every time he plays.

Any time Panini uses Game Used patches the card will specify "Game Used" not "Player Worn"

When it's a game-used jersey it says game-used. When the jersey was given by the company for the player to put on for a few minutes outside of a game they say event or player worn. That's how it works

Is there an EBay bug issue???? I just put in a bid on that Update Black with 30 seconds left and it jumped to a screen that says I missed out on the item all the while I'm seeing it count down to zero on the missed out screen. Unbelievable.

How long had that screen been open? I noticed that if you open a tab early, it can get distanced from the actual time. I forget exactly when it starts to countdown, but on that Dynasty Patch a little bit ago, my countdown timer was off by about 6 seconds.

For a minute or so before? I've never had that happen and that's usually how I bid but now I need to start doing the snipe thing as a backup. I'm not sure I would've won it anyway as I was only $100 over the high bid. It had a couple bad corners but I was fine paying that price for ~8 condition. Oh well

I'm surprised how low the rare parallels are relative to his other stuff. I think it's a sign that he's still lagging big time among traditional baseball collectors. It may take more than just this season for full buy in from them. Ohtani is still seen as less safe and more unpredictable than the other guys because what he's doing is so unprecedented

So after much delay, PSA is swapping the flips and the grades.

The Authentic 8 will be a 10 and the Immaculate will go from a 10 to an 8.

Not going to lie, kinda bummed.

I'm not a Panini fan but that first card looks fantastic and not at all like an unlicensed card

2018 Update RC Clear Acetate /10 went unsold today on eBay for starting bid of $4,999.
I thought someone would place in bid(s) at last second, but I guess paper parallels are more appealing to most collectors even with higher serial numbering.
The condition sensitiveness of clear acetates might also be the issue.

Timing of auction ending might have also been an issue, but probably doesn't matter much with such a big card.

It was also raw. Graded seems to be getting a bigger premium on Ohtani cards than usual, possibly another sign that he still hasn't caught on with traditional baseball collectors relative to how expensive he is?

I think it's the latter, along with the fact that S2 appears to have taken back the throne. Clears have such sensitive surfaces and if it's not graded already, it's probably a 7 or 8 at most.
