I purchased AMD/DPZ/LULU/COST then, helps put this in perspective.

This time around doesn't seem as attractive.

pretty crazy market movements - most of my stuff in tech so feeling the pain lol. Going to hold on for long haul as most is in amzn/baba/goog/nvda etc besides some riskier exposure @ DKNY/CGC etc. down a good 48k past month - still debating if i should pump more in to average out the cost of the shares

Thinking about going bigger exposure @ NVDA - any thoughts for long term hold?

I gotta say that when I bought sofi post earnings at $23.25 that I didn't see it hitting $14s-15s less than 3 weeks later. All of my positions in tech are getting smashed.

I bought 100 shares which was a sizeable position for me, now I'm wishing I had bought 50 and could be dollar costing down now. Still debating on if I should purchase 50 more or just use the same funds somewhere else in the market. I don't have any exposure to Nvidia or AMD so I have been thinking of adding 10 shares of AMD. Haven't made my mind up on what to do.

I've been buying SOFI all the way down. The sell off doesn't make sense to me because their business prospects haven't changed.

Well it kinda does, they aren't profitable and basically everything growth has been getting smacked. The path to profitability with considerable growth is there imo so I'll keep buying.

I bought 100 shares back in September around 15. Bought 100 more a couple weeks ago around 18.

I also bought Jan 20 23 50 calls and this morning bought Mar 18 22 20 calls.

I'm still very much bullish on SOFI looking a couple years out.

Torchlight Energy/Meta Materials looking like one big scam meme stock.

First they said dividends be paid before the merger happened. Then changed to the end of this year. Now the end of Q1 2022 and likely being spunoff so just issued stock in new company instead of actually divdends.

Also let us not forget the reverse split were torchlight holders got screwed with getting half your shares in Meta which has been tanking since the merger..

I still like it too. Considering taking the loss to offset taxes and move to my Roth. There could still be more downside but you're right. Not much has changed other than some other stocks getting smoked.

I've owned and held for the past 15 years. It's been a nice ride. Holding for at least another 10. Won't be one bit surprised if it hits 4 figures within that time

I don't know, man. I like the stock. The market hates it right now. There are just too many better things on sale for a discount to buy more SOFI on the way down. It has been a falling knife the last three weeks. I own it, but in accounts that we don't trade in/out of. Its's a legacy holding situation. If you are holding for the long term and have the pucker factor to get through a SP of $11-14 for the short term, than why not? If you think for a moment you might get paper hands and decide to sell as it drops, why not just buy something of higher quality and greater market sentiment?

You like quality. I'll pass on LULU but I have spoken before on my fondness for the other three.

I’m not buying more shares right now, just leaps.

So I was listening to a podcast yesterday and the theory is that the 2yr yield going up makes consumer financing more expensive thus shrinking margins. Now I’m not nearly smart enough to know why but you can see as the 2yr goes from 20-60 starting around October the consumer finance names got absolutely hammered.

TREE -30%
LC -38%
UPST -48%
SOFI -34%

Now of course I just learned this yesterday and I also don’t have a good understanding of what makes the 2yr go up. Is it just rising inflation?

Short term it certainly doesn’t look good but I still believe in the company

Default The Official Stock Market Thread

The way I look at it as a layman is exaggerated movement in the 2Y is a barometer of short-term change like inflation or rate adjustments that are already baked into the longer durations.

Yesterday had a lot of fuel, but part of it was the lower unemployment rate which makes the Fed more like to go with an earlier hiking schedule. That hurts stocks relying on cheap financing or whose growth or lofty valuations depends on the TINA thesis.

I remember having it on my portfolio watch list since when it was in the low 20s…

I picked up a good portion of my shares pre split in 2007 and then added here and there over the years. This and COST are 2 of my largest positions and holding them over the years has been a nice ride to say the least.

Wow I’d say so. Nice grab.

Everyone swears by that place but I’ve never tried it.

Not sure why everything was up today but I will take the +2% bounce after last week’s beating.
