15 degrees, high of 25 with wind chills in the low teens

Christmas at my Mom's

My son just sent me a text from work, my response to him was a simple two letter phrase "NN"

Youngest JD went to a holiday concert last night with his grandma. While he was there we took the opportunity to watch Die Hard with the oldest. First time he saw it.

He can be at times but this was directed at one of his co-workers who he was talking about in his text.

He's received a NN text from me before. Old enough to vote, old enough to get told what is what.

So who is paying the other $14,400?

The show yesterday was decent but not good. Sold 4 cheap unopened boxes and a bunch of assorted cards from my $2 and $5 boxes. The best part is that one of the COMC sellers, who occasionally pops into the show, set up yesterday with a whole bunch of dollar boxes with appropriate discounts. He saw me and said you have to come check this stuff out. I note that he must spend unreal amounts of money opening stuff and participating in breaks. He does this in search certain cards and doesn't care about the rest. I spent half the show going through his boxes while still making sales. It got to the point of pulling things that he said to stuff a 2 row box for what I thought was a cheap amount, so I did. Ended up with over 300 cards each in baseball, basketball and football.

I was supposed to stop by B&K on the way home as their 2 oldest daughters (and well as the oldest's hubby and son) were in town. However, I tweeked my back again yesterday getting out of bad and B ended up with a 101 temperature, so I stayed away. I will go over there after the show in Tampa next Saturday. I hope the girls are still there as I haven't seen the oldest and her family since May and the middle one in about a year.

Dollar Box stories always remind me that this is a good hobby.

They are and whatever my wife can scrape up to give them. That figure doesn't include DJ, photographer, hair, makeup, flowers, cake, centerpieces, and little take home chocolates. I believe dress and tux rental on on the wedding party.

That SD isn't a mooch. She always pays for her own stuff or pays us back like when she needed to make her college payment but the fire department hadn't deposited her money yet.

Speaking of mooches, the oldest SD called today asking for money for lunch. At least the wife is telling her no now that she has a job.
