There's very little comedy in the new movie.

Was hoping for a little more scare but the gore was tastefully done, in an evil dead sense, so I enjoyed the film.

I really enjoyed one this morning while looking for movies I haven't heard of. Was a 2021 movie called A House in the Bayou

If I learned anything from Scream VI it’s that…

…getting stabbed is really no big deal, you’re extremely unlikely to die. Worst in the series for me. My personal Scream rankings still go in descending order.

Watched Significant Other last night.

Very well-made and solid acting. Basically a feature-length Twilight Zone episode with just enough campy WTF moments to keep it from becoming predictable.

I give it a B+

That's probably referring to the 2019 revival from executive producer Jordan Peele who also served as host. It lasted two 10 episode seasons.

The final episode of Season 1, "Blurryman", was pretty cool, and sort of spoke to the difficulty inherent in rebooting an iconic TV series.

The season 2 episode premiere episode "Meet Me in the Middle" had a good 'ol fashioned TZ twist, but this iteration, despite some pretty solid casting, clearly fell flat overall, or else there'd have been more than two seasons.

As with the original Rod Serling series, there were plenty of "message" episodes, but they tended to be a little too heavy handed here. There was also one remake from the original series, an updated "Nightmare at 20,000 Feet" the previous versions of which starred William Shatner (original series) and John Lithgow (1983 movie), but this time with Adam Scott (Ben from "Parks & Rec).

Nothing can touch the original, of course. This one was probably better than the 2002-2003 syndicated revival hosted by Forest Whitaker, but not as good as the 1985-87 version which aired on CBS.

Watched both The Accursed (2021) and The Accursed (2022).

Both had potential and managed a few decent moments, but ultimately were kind of a let down. The 2022 film was probably better and even managed to capture a bit of that early 2000s / Sam Raimi feel—plus it had a genuinely, unexpectedly gross scene—but weak acting by the non-lead actors kind of dragged it down.

Fangoria Awards, tonight on Shudder.

Here's this year's nominees. I've seen almost all of them except "A Wounded Fawn", "Watcher", and a couple of the international titles:

https://www.chainsawawards.org/wp-co...0Qkc%3D.YhjV4S

I'm going with "Barbarian" and "Terrifier 2" in the Wide and Limited feature categories and Mia Goth ("Pearl") and Mark Rylance ("Bones and All") in the acting categories. If Ti West was up for director of "Pearl" instead of "X", I'd take him over Zach Cregger of "Barbarian" who will probably win. For Documentary, "In Search of Darkness" in its entirety (three 4+ hour chapters) is the greatest horror doc of all-time, but for this year, I'll take "This Is Gwar" over "In Search of Darkness Part III" by itself.

Finally got around to seeing the house that jack built

Maybe I missed the point of the movie, but It seemed like a dark twisted comedy more than anything

I took it as a writer/director Lar Von Trier's metaphorical look at his own career, that is, each of the killings represented one of his earlier films in some way, in particular the public reaction to them, and whether or not he'd succeeded in getting across the points he wanted to make.

He works in very heavy symbolism. For instance, his film "Nymphomaniac" isn't really about sex at all. His movies definitely aren't for everyone, but he's made some real gems including "Melancholia", "Breaking The Waves", and "Dogville".

Watched Unwelcome.

Not as good as Wright’s previous movie Grabbers. The first part of the film had some decent psychological horror, but the third act goes off the rails James Wan/Malignant-style. You go from not seeing the monsters at all to watching the main characters dance in the rain with them.

I watched “You’re Next” on FreeVee not too long ago. It was a pretty good slasher flick.

I loved this movie. Had a little bit of dark humor mixed in as well.

How many episodes are there? What kind of cinematic claymation universe has this person created?

Fantastic movie. Erin is my favorite final girl ever. There should be more badass final girls like her.

The song that was being played in the "cabin" scenes was really catchy.
