Honestly, it's a cool piece, but the card was selling for an absurdly high amount of money before the auction was pulled. I think it sets a bad precedent and others will likely try to follow suit.

I wish I liked the WBC cards more but they just don't do anything for me. The Topps Now card of him striking out Trout just can't be topped.

I guess that's why we collect what we like. The WBC set nailed the inserts in my opinion. Possibly my favorite run of any release.

So question to you heavy Ohtani collectors: what do you think of the relic/relic autos in the 50/50 set? Are you gonna try and acquire one of them for your collections? Or will those cards be a "nice to have, but I'm not gonna go out of my way to get one" type card?

Definitely. Not a knock on the set as those inserts do look great. I'm just picky when it comes to what I collect. Thankfully it's easier on the wallet that I don't need to have everything

It's the latter. It's a bad bet to assume this is his only world series with what his contract allowed the Dodgers to do and it's just not a great relative value to what the same dollars can buy in rookie year cards.

Totally - there are a lot of sets I don't collect that many seem to like so that resonates.

I'd love to pick up a nice parallel of HR#50 and SB#50 but I doubt I'll be happy enough with the prices those command to ever buy one.

I’m definitely going to pick up a 50/50 relic card at some point. I do have some other things I’m working on at the moment, with other PC’s but it’s on my radar.

I was considering it but none of them popped up for a decent price early on and now it's not worth going after them for me, as nice as they may be. I decided that I would complete the base set 1-100 in a binder and settled for a nice Blue Refractor of #100 as it's the HR #50 and color match, luckily that was over a month ago.

I’ll hold off until after he gets 60/60 in 2025 when prices drop.
