Question:

I activated a port listing a few days ago. After countless lacklustre offers, I accepted an offer that was a tad below what I wanted to take. Now, the port is still up and people are still sending me offers! What's going on?
I'm thinking it might have to do with that fact that it was an RFP (request for proposal). Do those get processed after the listing is expired? What are the implications of an RFP? Can he back out?

Thanks,
Steve

Nevermind, it processed today. 2 days after I accepted the RFP. I'm guessing he has to add funds to his account.

I'm glad it didn't take any longer, frankly, I was sick of lowball offers from 'pkchu' and 'buymore' (who are persistent).

Haha so true, every time I do a port sale I can count on an offer from Pkchu within minutes. He will give you a decent price, just takes tons of haggling to get there.

Be aware

The RFP is an offer where the buyer doesn't have the funds in their account at the time. I have bought two ports off RFP, and when accepted, I transferred PP over to COMC and it cleared immediately. So you were waiting on your buyer to move PP into his account.

I guess you can still receive offers even after accepting an RFP. I didn't expect that.

Ive said it before, but I would really love to be able to see the seller who I brought a card outright from. I do not see why I can see the past seller when a purchase has been made with an offer, but not outright. I bought a card last night outright and forgot to open the sellers port in another window. I remembered the seller name and after about half an hour of searching, I managed to locate the seller through another listing. I then spent close to $50 with that seller. I really don't know why we cant see the seller through purchase history and also have a fave/saved seller list, etc.

So many simple changes that would improve the site, to which no action ever seems to be taken

I completely agree with both of these ideas. Would be a couple of small additions that would make big differences not only for buyers but sellers as well.

I agree, interesting idea. Worth adding in the COMC suggestion thread or have you suggested it to Nathan?

If you receive and accept an RFP - is it possible, for any reason, that it be cancelled? Can buyer cancel it, is it possible they don't have the funds/can't get them? Those have worried me in the past and the wording used on the site doesn't seem to register well in my brain.

Think I have sold my port 4 times now. Recently, it's become a redemption rotting area, along with way too many baseball cards that I just need to be patient with until Spring Training... I get bored and list low, run a sale, then list lower, run a sale - need to just let them sit sometimes.

Not sure if anyone would buy a port with 50+ redemptions?

I have suggested it - exact same idea. Nothing has ever come of it - suggested to Nathan via email. It's almost (if it wasn't so dumb) laughable to think that a Marketplace not only forgets to encourage additional purchases from a seller, they almost manage to DIScourage folks. I have had the same experience as OP, bought a $5 card on sale. Had to search about 60 ports on the Promotions page to finally find the person. 2 of the 5 other cards sold by the time I got around to finding the seller again.

I'll buy anything if the price is right

It is funny to me to imagine what goes on in a typical day at COMC

I'm not sure what you'd consider "funny", but whatever you're thinking about COMC isn't it...

I will say processing is humming right along - over 2,000 items processed for me in the last five days.

We can start a little wishlist for COMC or Calm-Sea as they preferred to be called...

#1 - Don't make a buyer pay shipping over and over on the same card. I believe this used to be a feature of COMC, the initial "purchaser" pays the .25 and when they resell, that fee had already been paid.

#2 - Easily find sellers you have purchased from in the past and the possibility of "saving them" in some capacity - search function, saved sellers, past sales - ANYTHING

#3 - Ability to trade. People could/would be making offers all day, every day - but the worst that would happen if you have to click one button to delete all of their hard work to prepare a bogus offer. :-)

What else we got?

The quarter shipping is only paid once. if the person who flipped it bought in regular mode, they get the quarter back when they sell it.

#1 - Turn on Advance Selling Mode

#3 - I believed they considered some type of trading feature, but scraped the idea because you basically already have the ability to trade with other sellers by buying each other's cards.

How about a "council" of 8-10 users (buyers & sellers)?

•To advise on user priorities
•Pilot testing of new features
•Act as ambassadors in the community

The council could meet monthly or bi-monthly (via teleconference or virtually)

The 2 things I'd like to see 1. The ability make and sell lots and #2 I'd like to see tiered %off to encourage bulk buying and have the option to show it on ur COMC page. Like, say u auto accept 10% off then u could say u accept 25% off for anyone who buys 5-10 cards then 30% for anyone who buys 11-15 cards and so on. I think both ideas could easily help get some things off the site and get some cards moving around. I'm pretty sure there was a thread circulating a couple months ago with 20 some feature requests, but nothing came of it......Atleast not that anyone knows of, but then again who knows what's going on under the covers over in Redmond.
