I opted out awhile ago. For some reason I still have my funds go into "pending" even thought I have over 10 feedback and have had my account in good standing for over a year so international buyers caused my funds to be held longer because of shipping times. Plus one of my buyers said that her tracking said that it had been sitting at the shipping facility for over a week. I had to explain to her that once it gets to the shipping center that I am no longer responsible. She must have figured it out as I never received a message after that, bad feedback or a case, knock on wood. The program just seems flawed to me in general. I hope they get it figured out and then I may return to using it. It does open up a lot of potential buyers.

You typically have to have over 125 feedback with no issues before they lift the pending payments.

You also have to maintain a certain volume per year. 10 feedback in a year will not get you there.

I got an email the other day informing me all items will be automatically enrolled im the GSP. reading the fall update it says if you have opted out of it then it will not change. They also once said that about managed returns thatsllers could opt out, but now it is forced on them as well.

I got an email saying some of the items I did not set up for the GSP will be automatically added in November so I don't know how it is going to play out.

I am still betting for now if they do you can go to Paypal and block international payments still

They better fix this issue as that is a huge problem. I would be mad too if my shipping cost went up by $10 or whatever AFTER I agreed to buy an item.

Sounds like an interesting idea. Maybe i will test it out during my next mass listings.

Btw, im still ticked i didnt get included in the last free listing promo. I hope this doesnt become routine...

I was looking deeper into that idea using seller manager to see where most of my views come from and most seem to come straight from google and then view other items. Keep in mind the way Ebays search engine works more views and watchers is not a good thing. It reads views with no purchase as a negative metric and will slowly lower your items search standing.

I have gotten to where I don't worry about the free listings, I am kind of under the belief that if you have to wait until listing is free then the item may not be worth listing on Ebay at all. There are many sellers who actually despise free listings. When they used to do it once a year or so I would not list at all during the next 7 days because I had run the numbers and shows as much as a 40% decrease in sales during that 7 day period due to the search being clogged with junk. Even now when a major free listing special comes in sales drop for 7 days or so by as much as 15% this current one seems to be around 10% off from my average.

So I view them as if I get them I get them but am not going to stop listing because I did not get one.

Someone had mentioned something similar, where if its not worth paying the listing fee, then its not worth listing.

I am averaging 600 items. I sell maybe 10% of that in a month. Before I started a store, listing fees were between 40 and 50 cents an item. Using the logic above, my cost to list all of that would be around $240 to list it all for a week, then live off the free relistings. Now the relistings are down to just one time instead of three, so to currently list all of my goods to run an entire month not using any free listing promo, would cost $480, plus final value fees and paypal fees. I would never see a profit unless each and every item I had sold that month.

The items I sell are mostly sit and wait items. They need to be up and listed for when joe schmo decides he wants something, and if I dont have it up when hes looking, I miss the sale. I need to have my inventory up and running, ready for viewing, at all times.

So I decided to try the store. A basic entry level, with a fee of 20 bucks a month (I know its cheaper if you commit to a year, but I'm just trying it out). 150 free listings, and 20 cent listings after that.

So if I add NO new inventory...
600 items, 150 free list...
450 items at .20 each = $90 to list for two full months (30 days plus a free relist)

store fee of 20/month, list fee of 45/month

An Ebay store for me to run 600 items costs $65 a month. Plus final value and paypal fees, which I average about 150/month.

I am just trying to save costs wherever I can. The free listings help me do that. I dont feel like giving ebay any more than I already do.

Has free listing started? My sales went bye bye as of 3 days ago, I had 11 sales in 5 days and I haven't sold anything in almost 3 days, upper annoying.

So my listings clearly state that I do not ship outside of the US (don't want the headache) and I am not enrolled in GSP. Someone who just joined today hit the BIN on one of my items and they are from France. What do you guys think I should do?

Cancel the order if you don't want to ship it, plain and simple. I like the GSP personally, I wouldn't ship international with it.

It is possible he has a shipping address in the US, but as I mentioned earlier Ebay appears to be slowly sneaking all sellers into the GSP. The wording of the email I got a few weeks ago indicated they were mandating it by November, but other info contradicts that.

If he has paid you are pretty much stuck. If he has not paid you can go into Paypal and block international payments and he should not be able to pay.

Just canceling the order will not only give you a defect, but could also give you a neg out of the deal. Canceling an order does not block feedback of any kind.

Either use GSP or cancel.

That sucks

About a month ago I had an Australian buyer message me and say that my listing description says US only but all countries are available on an item. I checked the item he was interested in and sure enough the GSP had been added to EVERY one of my 300 listings without me doing anything.

I opted out in my main seller settings and it was removed. Called ebay and they basically said they changed it for whatever reason to boost my sales.

I don't see them possibly being able to force international shipping but that experience makes me believe it is possible

Just finished installing an extra large rural mailbox out by the curb. 15" high by 12" wide by 24" deep. That will make it easier to mail out larger items without having to leave the house. My primary sales will still be sportscards and other smalls.
I saw my mailman pull up and grab a big box out of the back so I went out to get it from him. I told him what it was and he started laughing. He's been my mailman for around 15 years and knows I sell on Ebay. It's good to have a mailman you can trust.

The free listing promotions by Ebay are a bane for store owners. I hate paying for an anchor store and having sales slump every time they do it.

I really need to stop buying stuff and list what I have. Have about 200 items that I bought to list but never have. Listing is just my least favorite thing and with the internet issues we have had recently its a real PITA.

i seem to be having a problem with Paypal all of a sudden. I am trying to purchase postage and print a label for an item i've sold, but for some reason when i select the weight of the package, it doesnt calculate the postage amount for me to buy. Has anyone else had this problem? Wondering if something got screwed up with my settings. I am on Windows 7 and using mozilla firefox as my browser.
