My boss came down to catch me up on what I've missed while on vacation. We have a new Contracting Representative on the government side. We discussed the disaster of operations pushing this new domain and my team and my wife's team have had to fix all of the issues. My wife actually received kudos from her government lead today regarding her handling of it.

The team lead down at Bragg for my service desk had a heart attack and is in the hospital.

He has heart issues and apparently got into it with the jerk government lead and the next day, he had a heart attack.

We have a lot of changes going on down there.

just had this converstion with such a brilliant person (BP) at work.....

they called to ask about an area under construction....

BP - "is the area behind the desk still closed"
ME - "yes, it will be closed for awhile"
BP - "so we can't go and sit in there and read, it is closed"
ME - "it will be closed for awhile"
BP - "do you know what they are doing"
ME - "remodelling"
BP - "so it is closed"
ME - "yes"

It was apparent in my conversation with my boss today that she totally forgot I'd be out next Friday - Monday for FDIC as she told me she also is going to be out.

seems like it would be the opposite.....she would be more likely to forget when you were actually showing up

Do you have an email to back it up? Just asking as I have always done my absences in email. That way I have something to prove I said I wasn't going to be there.

We have an out of office Teams calendar for our contract that we have to put all leave on. When I put it on there, I also add her as an invitee so it sends her an e-mail and puts the time off on her local Outlook calendar.

I have all of my scheduled days off on that calendar already through September. I did that on purpose early, because last year she scheduled time off before I put mine on the calendar and she got upset when she found out both of us would be on leave at the same time since I'm her deputy.

If you want Canadian culture, just go to a Blue Jays spring training game or two. There are always tons of Canadians down there. I love talking to them. I thought it might get a little testy this year with all that is happening, but they were still great. They were drinking American beer and OJ, loading up their cars with as much stuff as they can, and telling stories about how they always cross the border to buy their groceries and other stuff as everything is much cheaper in the US.

FT Jr. has baseball practice this morning for 2 hours. Afterwards, I have to go to Walmart and get some chicken broth and jello to eat tomorrow. Tonight, I start drinking to prepare for Monday's colonoscopy.

So I had an interesting issue happen with my camera on vacation that I wish jplarson was still around as he may know what the issue is. I was downloading photos each day from my SD card to my laptop (my laptop has an SD card slot) and some of the photos were corrupted. I deleted them, looked up a few things on the Internet, and decided to change out my SD card.

The next day, I had the same issue. Some photos were corrupted and it didn't matter if I shot them in JPG or RAW. I read a few more things online and formatted the SD card.

The next day, I had the same issue. I decided to look at my backup drive to see if they were corrupt on there and they were. I then looked at the SD card (I hadn't deleted the photos yet) and when I pulled the photo up on the laptop from the SD card, it was fine.

I was then able to one by one, copy those photos to the laptop and backup drive and they weren't corrupt.

I have no idea what is going on or why. When I got home, I looked at the backups from my VA Fire Rescue Conference trip and no photos were corrupt from then. That was the first time I used that laptop and downloaded photos to it. I wonder if some Microsoft update since then has caused the issues.

They’ve been very lucky the last 2 rounds. Wouldn’t shock me at all if Duke beats them. I’ve said from day 1 that they are missing some pieces to win it all. Post play hasn’t been great all season, outside shooting disappears, and I really don’t see the killer instinct last years team had.

Picking up my friend and her daughter at 9 to head to the zoo. We’re meeting my brother and his family down there. This will be trip 2 where we all go together. Hopefully we have a good time and it’s not to crowded.
