I think Soto will turn it around. That said...he has been bad for the last 162 games.

He has such a weird stat line over the last 365 days

160 games, 96 runs, 27hr, 66rbi, 141BB, 107K, .230/.392/.435

more walks than strikeouts is encouraging. Just seems to be a lot of bad luck when he hits the ball.

He's turned into Adam Dunn with less power.

Can we just go back to last season where we just pumped walks?

It’s not bad luck. If the advanced stats say it’s luck, they’re lying. He struggles to elevate pitches down in the zone. He has to figure that out. When you already struggle with making contact on off-speed, if you put every ball down in the zone into the ground, you’re not going to hit for average. He used to do such a good job of taking those kinds of pitches and going oppo with a nice liner. Don’t see that anymore from him.

Im wondering what he worked on during the offseason? Based on early results from this season...it doesn't look like much. He's having the same problems in 2023 that he had in 2022.

Yep very low babip could be considered bad luck but when 8 out every 10 times one connects it ends up on the ground a 200 babip should be expected. Think I saw it’s worse so far this year than second half of last year.

This is not a good situation. No chance sd will resign him (and in an unexpected turn they seem to have locked into a better player at considerably lower contract in bogaerts). He’s not going to be able to use ohtani as a contract comp. Probably lost out on at least a few years of security 100 million plus to the Washington contract. If he’s still hitting 175 come June he may be best off taking a break from the show and getting his head screwed on right in milb. It’s amazing to think this could be where things are at but… here we are

He'll turn it around. I'd bet my entire card collection he never goes back to the minors unless for a rehab assignment.

If push comes to shove I probably would too but he’s playing like a 9 slot hitter that can get on base from time to time with a good eye. No real ability to connect and get hits so it’s either an out or runner on first for the top of the order. There a fine line between that player and AAAA

I'd love a 9 slot hitter that leads the majors in walks.

As mentioned in a post above we can’t even pump the walks this year 16/16 k/w in 2023

And you know… cardboard

At what point will the powers to be on this board declare Juan Soto no longer hobby good? I am personally going down with the ship (like I always do as I am too busy/lazy to sell on ebay).

He is 24 years old. I think long term he will actually be a pretty good investment. The problem is his market like many other players got ahead of itself considering the amount of supply available. (See Doncic, Luka)

Some of these rare cards keep dropping and I'm a buyer. That said, a guy like Ohtani from the same RC class is a way better investment at the moment.

Nicely done. I paid a bit more for a raw copy that I sub'd and got a PSA-10, so for $100, why not add another?

LOOKING FOR: low grade (ie, cheap, not mint or better) 2018 Topps Chrome Update auto. To be peeled and signed.

Working on a little run of Topps Chrome (or if no Chrome, Tiffany) signed rookie cards. Not sure what I'm going to do about J-Rod

Are we really sure he is only 24? Oldest looking 24 year old in the world!

Is he really though? If you watch him in games he may be more physically gifted than a lot of 24 year olds but he oozes youthful energy at the plate and on the field.
