Opinions evolve over time. I used to watch the NBA every night. Now I watch none. And you can take enjoyment in regular season performances while still viewing them as meaningless when it doesn’t translate to postseason success.

I always felt mvp awards in the nba meant less than say baseball since the writers dont like giving it to the same guy year after year even if they deserve it. We all knew the mvp every year was jordan or lebron even if they didnt get the hardware for example.

Surprised he got 1st team. Guess it speaks to the sad state of the NBA when a guy who sat 20% of the team’s games and sucked the last two months of the season can still be 1st team All-NBA.

Hopefully he takes about half the games off until March, then gears it up to get ready for the playoffs. The regular season is simply too long to have to give effort from October through April. The Jimmy Butler strategy worked just fine for the Heat.

Until we see what the roster looks like and there’s a pretty substantial improvement, there’s really nothing to keep them from continuing to drop. As of now, there’s absolutely nothjng suggesting it’ll be anything other than 1st team all-NBA numbers on a team that’s at best a 5-6 seed. And he’s running out of seasons where that will be good enough to keep him out of Harden/Westbrook territory
