Well since this thread has been quiet lately I got some eye candy for Trae collectors. This are some of my latest pickups from the last few weeks.
First this Awesome rookie card Immaculate Massive Memorabilia. I am stun that I was able to grab this one since is so rare, one has not being for sale for close to a year since March 2020. After some quick research I can said that is the most beautiful patch that have being seen on the open market with a massive letter A. ![]() Super short print rare second year Select Company Silver with only a pop 4! ![]() Second year Flawless Red to /15. Love the red on the cards matching Trae uniform. ![]() ![]() 2018 Status Green rookie card Bgs 9.5 ![]() Loved the first one I got that I had to grab a second 2019 Immaculate acetate with game worn patch to uniform number /11 ![]() NT Collegiate patch to /05 ![]() Lastly added a Beautiful Rookie game worn patch from Flawless BGS 9.5 true gem mint with one 10 and three 9.5s, showing part of the letter Y. Great cards. Those Flawless RPAs are awesome...and I like the two /15 Flawless autos a lot too. Those the "Ruby" parallels?

Yes they are the Ruby parallels. They rarely show up for sale on eBay.

They are going through a spell like earlier in the year. So inconsistent and terrible D. What a weird game. Almost like he was told not to shoot 3s, or they are just trying other game plans as an experiment. Seemed to work for a while until they fell apart in the 4th. I really dont like the way Pierce coaches this team. Never have. They need a new coach.

Trae's playing like a woman scorned. Hubs told her that her cooking sucks, so she's rebelling by giving the cold shoulder and keeping Hungry Mans in the freezer.
Collins' mouth was the straw that broke the camel's back.

I was going to wait until playoffs to cut bait on most of my remaining Trae stock, but at this point it doesn't look like they'll make it. I fully expect Miami to climb up into the top 6, and at this point don't see ATL leapfrogging CHA or TOR to get in (and yes, I'm counting NY out)

That said, I don’t understand why Trae doesn’t create his shot without the ball more. He’s a good enough shooter to where he should be getting the ball off screens for pull up 3s. If teams are going to give him Curry treatment then he has to be able to score without the ball in his hands and not just leave it to other players. I don’t know if that’s being discouraged by coaching/schemes or if it’s just something he’s not doing. He shot at a high clip last year on catch and shoot 3s so it doesn’t make since to me. The Hawks should realistically have a winning record this year. They’ve lost a lot of close games and have collapsed late in the 3rd or down the stretch in the 4th and they’ve blown a lot of leads. They have to learn how to close games and Trae has to learn how to lead that. It’s hard to pin nights like tonight in him alone because he found the open guy a lot and when Gallo and Huerter have clean looks there’s no excuse to go cold the way they do at times. But watching Trae take zero 3s and do very little to create his own shot in a game like tonight, especially down the stretch, is puzzling and frustrating. Despite the bad stretch and ups and downs of the season so far I actually believe Trae’s game has matured positively this season. He’s gotten much better at letting the game come to him and having a better feel for when to press and make his offense and when to be more of a floor manager. This bodes well for the future if the Hawks can continue to mesh, mature and find or develop that 2nd and 3rd guy who can take over a game when Trae is either off or taken out of the game some by the defense. I still think they are a playoff team this year. I hate to keep comparing to Steph because he and Steph are different players despite having some similarities, but the Warriors didn’t make the playoffs until Steph’s 4th season at 24 y/o. Call me crazy but it’s not the end all be all if they don’t make the playoffs this year in his 3rd season at 22 y/o.

They match up well with Brooklyn honestly. They’ve given Philly fits since in Trae career so far but I think Philly is a better team this year that in the past.

Does Trae miss out on the all star game this year? Maybe we will get a f u 2nd half of season then? One can only hope
that or a John Collins, Kevin, Reddish and picks trade for Beal hehe.

The problem with the Steph comparison is that he played as a SG for most of his life, including his first couple years at Davidson. I think he’s way more comfortable working off ball than Trae, who requires the ball in his hands for the playmaking aspect of his game. Much more like Nash who would probe until a window opened for him or others. I also think Trae doesn’t (yet) feel comfortable getting his shot off in tight spaces, particularly behind the arc. I would guess from watching that data would show Steph requires a smaller shooting radius from his nearest defender to get a shot off, while Trae prefers to extend his range to create the same amount of space. I think this makes off ball sets much less effective for him because even coming off a screen he isn’t going to have a ton of room. Also, he doesn’t take a lot of shots fading in either direction—he either steps into his shots or goes straight up and down. A guy like Ray Allen later in his career or Steph even are very comfortable moving sideways as they shoot. I haven’t seen much of this from Trae yet. Really the team needs a second creator. A guy like Haliburton, although there are other potential issues there, would have been really effective in that role at least. |
