He certainly looked the part last night. Like him a lot.

Obviously Bobby looked fantastic, Kirby was solid, and Nick Pivetta stayed hot from 2nd half last year.

Excited today to see how Grayson follows up Burnes start. Will also be following DL Hall. Happy for him actually getting a legit shot to stick. The stuff certainly plays.

Hall is my #1 post hype guy for this season. I have a nice one of him that should be arriving on Tuesday. Excited to see him pitch today, which means he’ll probably get rocked

I’m intrigued by him for sure. Today is a pretty tough matchup. Couple feet from giving up a 1st inning salami but the scoreboard shows zero. His fb seems to be only 92-93 today so he really needs to command it at the top of the zone and mix in his excellent breaking stuff often I think. Four or five innings with no more than a couple runs given up would be totally acceptable IMO. I only own a couple cheapies but he has nice potential long term for sure.

The velocity issue is a real concern for me. That's why it took him so long to get to the bigs last year. They shut him down to bulk up hoping it would help. Granted, I know coming out of the pen is going to have more juice than starting, but still.

Yeah sitting 91-92 isn’t ideal. I’m hoping that he’s still just getting ramped up

Outstanding start for Miller, but it's a long season. Can't wait to see how it unfolds for him.

In the meantime, here's a free Miller RC contest, open to all.

1. To avoid clogging the thread, send me a PM predicting his Game Score for his next start (vs. SF). He had a 78 last night.

2. One guess per member

3. If more than one person predicts the correct score, the first to do so wins

The deadline for entering is Tuesday April 2nd. So long as your PM has a timestamp before Apr 3rd, you're in.

Good luck to all.

Game Score

Good start for a lot of the darlings of this thread. Even Grayson is getting into the action today.

there is a strong correlation between throwing 100 and being awesome

My boy Javy with a good start yesterday, even though the bullpen blew it.

Hunter Greene not so much, WHIP of 2, don’t matter how many you K, can’t win like that.

Yeah, he was a little bit of a stay-away for me this year in fantasy. I had him on my team last year, and it just wasn’t fun no matter how many Ks he got. Didn’t add any cards of his this off season either.

The 4 walks were bad for sure, but the 2 runs came on a dropped popup and a sac fly where the OF forgot how many outs there were.

That's a deceiving statline. He looked good and both runs were weak contact and poor defense. Regularly over 100 and had good swing and miss on the slider. The walks were bad, and his problem is still pitch count, but it was a promising outing. Very little hard contact at all.

Yeah, the walks/pitch count is the big challenge he needs to overcome. But control for pitchers is much like power for hitters—it comes with age and experience.

It’s worth keeping in mind that Hunter has only pitched 442 professional innings since being drafted in 2017. He’s still rather…..green….

Default PITCHERS: Official Thread of the Hobby’s Outcast Position

Random question while perusing tonight’s pitching matchups..
Why did Tommy Henry win a job in the Arizona rotation? And why #3 in front of the seemingly emerging BPfadt?
His minor league numbers were pretty crappy.
His major league numbers are pretty crappy.
His spring numbers were pretty crappy.
His ability to miss bats seems pretty crappy.

If by dumb luck it had stayed under $200, I was going to try sniping, but that obviously didn’t happen. That’s a top-shelf card.

Yeah I bid above $200. I actually don't think $280 is bad for that card, just a little rich for my blood.

Man, I was all over that card… Except it ended during my wife’s birthday dinner, and I wasn’t able to stealthily put in a bid.

You got it for a great price.
