27-12 at the half. We drove 50+ yards with a minute left, but got tackled inside the 10 with no timeouts to end the half. Have to finish the game. This is the 99th meeting between the schools

So far we’re 3-0 with scores of 62-14, 45-0, and 41-12. This team is SCARY! We have some tough competition come playoff time on our side of the bracket with Oceanside who can legally recruit, and Dillon who knocked us out in a close game last year.

Gamecocks play SC State tonight. Should be a blowout. Newberry College is on the road at UVA Wise. If they don’t have a better season it might be coaching change time.

Was up late talking and texting friends that still coach. Had me watching film from their games and giving advice on their offense. One is about convinced to put in the series I recommended before the season. Tried to get him to go to the entire offense but he wouldn’t, now he’s seeing what I’m saying since the only time they move the ball is with plays I told him to at least add. They won 7-6 last night, but the game was ugly. I watched it start to finish. Spread isn’t the only offense in the world, but both teams were running it. So many incompletions and sacks.

I tried to get him to add Single Wing run game in since their QB really can’t throw. Last night they ran the Buck Series on their only TD drive. Trap, QB Trap, Buck, Buck Lead. Went down the field. Is it flashy? Not at all. Does it work? Absolutely

If it works, why do anything else? I think coaches get bored doing the same thing is the main reason.

Sometimes it’s pressure from other people. I was in the final 3 for a head coaching job once, but the AD made me hope I didn’t get it. She told me that no matter what the team would run a spread offense. Now this was a school where if they won 4 games it was a miracle. I self sabotaged the final interview after that. They’ve have maybe 8 coaches in 12 years since then, all ran the same offense, and the most games they’ve won is 3. They do have the same woman as AD.
