They resigned Judge of course, but that’s a little different. The days of the Yankees signing big name free agents regularly are over.

I remember reading that Bryce Harper was destined for the Yankees since the day he was drafted.
Wow, it has been forever since the Yankees go in the free agent pool 3 years is like a decade when it come to the Yankees? Soto makes a lot of sense, but I hope not.

It's actually been 9 months since they went into the free agent pool and gave out the biggest free agent contract in MLB history

This is a great way to end the season, but does it make it more likely SD will try to sign him?

Doesn’t matter what San Diego does he needs to hit free agency and play elsewhere.

I was being sarcastic. He had also mentioned Judge already.

You’re right that it’s not over. I over exaggerated and I forgot about Rodon.

I was more referring to the overall trend of sports writers and fans linking every free agent to the Yankees, whether there is a truth to the link or not. And that they have typically not signed free agents at the same level that they did 15 years ago.

They've also passed on a lot of guys the last several years, Harper, Machado, Seager, Freeman. Yes they have a high payroll, but the Yankees used to have a payroll far beyond the rest of baseball. Plus they've done a lot of dumb signings / trades.

Be nice if Soto breaks his single season Home Run record from 2019...very good season considering a couple rough patches!

I’m certainly on the lookout for a few quality Soto cards heading into the offseason. Nothing huge, but hoping a few of his mid range cards will slip through the cracks from sellers auctioning off stuff to fund other player investments.

May be the lowest prices you will ever see for him moving forward. Especially if he keeps tacking on those homers consistently every year. Home runs move the needle when they start to accumulate at a young age even if the average takes a dip.

How could you possibly be waiting for lower than this? You need another 10% off the current rock bottom pricing at risk of missing out on 100% up? No bigger mistake in down markets than people trying to catch an absolute bottom.

1. (The main reason) Not enough extra cash to throw at quality stuff right now. I buy about 1-2 cards a month usually and I’m building a house while interest rates are absolutely bananas.

2. I’m not targeting his most iconic stuff. I have a feeling I’ll catch a few deals.

Anything in particular?

I'm looking for more 2019 chrome parallels that I don't already have. Gold, mainly. I have a blue. (Edit) And a gold of the image variation. Also picked up the 'base' image variation this past summer, one I didn't have yet.

2018...would like a raw TCU auto (to peel), and an Independence Day US300.

I'm looking for a few HR challenge winners I don't have. Nats uni only, though.

Big cards in PSA-7 or lower always interest me.

And more atomic refractors!

My most recent buys include a raw HMT55 base to plug into a set that I probably broke up to grade the Soto. And a GEM MINT raw 2019 walgreens yellow that I may have to sub to PSA, it's that nice...cost only $5.35.

Compare today's prices to Soto having a slightly better 2024 season (on the Padres) and winning the NL MVP. How up are his prices compared to today?

Dude, you listed two already haha, maybe I will have more bidding competition than I thought. I have a weakness for atomics and rookie cup parallels. I would also love to catch a Topps Gold RC at some point as well, definitely not a 10 though.

As usual mid Oct through mid Dec should yield a few at least mild bargains Id think. Dial in that bankroll and be ready to pounce my friend. GL on the house build too, that sounds exciting.

Thanks brother! That’s the plan. I had to cash in a lot of stuff I was trying to hold long term for the kiddos to make our relocation happen, now I’m trying to slowly build back as the house gets built. I specifically miss my Griffey Power Alley Die Cut haha.

The build itself has actually been a blast, all of the red tape releasing the land and going through underwriting was a massive headache though! Everything is moving in the right direction though and we should be wrapping up towards the end of the year.
