Looks like the Kurosawa 1/1 just sold for $16,500:

Wow. Thanks for sharing that video. I’m surprised that he sold it, but his justification makes sense.

Agreed, I was expecting it to go higher as well.

Dappz Sports just published their version of the sale:

Would you mind elaborating on this? Why is this superfractor 1/1 so valuable? Are all SW superfractor valued over 10k?
Serious question.

Kurosawa is one of the top 2-3 cards from the set. (If not the very top)

Kurosawa is definitely a cool card, not sure its in my top 5. But good thing about this set is everyone can have their favorite card in the set. Kurosawa definitely has the most hype out of all the cards in the set though.

Top card in the set lol, according to who? The card at the most in $500-750 superfractor. The fact that someone paid to get it graded and it only came back as a 9 is joke, but hey suckers are born every day.

It is all hype for a chromed version of a card which was printed hundreds of times over in an old Galaxy set. The "art" isn't even that special or unique.

are talking about the Kurosawa or the Galaxy chrome set? the cards in this set look amazing. if you are talking about why the Kurosawa is so overhyped compared to the other cards in the set then yeah I have no idea either.

If a superfractor Kurosawa is worth $16k, what does that make the first on card pack inserted Portman from Masterwork?

I wouldn't comp it to autos since there may always be comparable other options in the future. However, it should comp to other refractors, especially the ones from the earlier sets that are quite difficult to locate these days. They were not well taken care of and, generally, an afterthought for most - outside of the diehard collectors. That's a recipe for value increases once new collectors (or flippers) start sniffing around those 2014/2015 'ish sets.
