I decided to back out of last minute bidding on it. I asked seller specifically if there was anything wrong at all with the card, but he responded saying that it should grade a min. BGS 9, realistically 9.5 and was pack fresh. Still, he didn't answer my questions about the corners, surface, etc. Wanted particular answers so I skipped out.

And thanks guys for the support for blocking cardboardgoldinvestments. Just not right. He should've at least refunded my $ ASAP if he really didn't want to sell the card, but yet kept it for weeks saying "he will try to find it after his trip." I hope he gets banned on ebay permanently. I just know he gets another strike as a seller.

I hit the buy it now so fast that I didn't even bother to ask. At that time I didn't care what the number is on the back because I couldn't believe that I hit the buy it price. He even rejected 2 offers (one for $1900 and another for $3000) before I hit it. Yea, now I really wish he had a pic of the back. I wonder if anyone on here asked since there were a few board members who probably asked questions about the card. Hope they can bring some light to it and hopefully track it down in the future.

Because of the negative feedback I left, he will most likely list it to a 3rd party to auction off. Probably Probenstein on ebay or another highly reputable sports card auctioneer.

"Pack fresh" is such a stupid saying. Cards come out of packs damaged all the time. Saying it's "pack fresh" is a way to cop out and does nothing to describe the condition of the card. Nothing wrong with selling as is, whatever. Just an annoying figure of speech that people use that doesn't provide any value.

It's also not food and "fresh" is a moronic adjective to assign to a card.

Just saw one of the posts above and triggered this response. Maybe people who do it will eventually stop. Praying so for my sanity.

I have a different take on "pack fresh". To me it means the card was recently busted out of a pack/box/whatever... vs. a card that has been sitting in a shoe box getting dinged or warped etc...

That's obviously what it means, it's also non-descriptive as far as condition. People take cards they've had sleeved, toploaded, and sitting in a box for ten years that they ship off to PSA and receive a 10. There are cards that come out of the most recent Bowman releases that would grade 8 right out of the pack. Using the phrase in lieu of a description of condition is my problem with it, which is what 99% of the people selling cards that use the phrase do with it.

"Its pack fresh." <--- This is a non sequitur.

In the end, if you want gem buy gem. But some people also just want to avoid obvious defects that they can't see in pictures and get the "pack fresh" response from someone who can examine the card up close and doesn't want to say anything.

Up until last year I never looked at the surface unless it was absolutely obvious. If it were a year ago and you asked me that, you probably wouldn't be satisfied with my answer.
