I can understand this sentiment. People love Topps Chrome, especially to rip it, and many are priced out of it.

To be honest, if I didn't secure my preorder (for the price I paid in November 2021), I don't think I'd be buying it either.

But to me, it's no different than Optic/Prizm/Select basketball/football (or even the higher-end products like NT, Immaculate, Flawless, Eminence, Noir, etc).

As long as there's group breakers and high rollers, hobby/jumbo wax prices will remain higher than what's comfortable. We'll never return to pre-pandemic prices, unfortunately. I fear it might even get worse once Fanatics takes full command.

Guess I'll just buy the Wander RC in the offseason and wait for Update.

I’d agree we’re in the middle of a very rocky transition and it sucks to see your cards tank.
People seemed to be pretty pleased overall with the platinum 52 chrome stuff but beyond that a bunch of delays and watered down and missing content isn’t helping.

They started signing folks up and first few guys wrote their name and turned around and said there were only 5 spots left. By then there were probably 30 people in line and many were pretty upset. Topps guys seemed apologetic but he said, "the list was pretty full when started signups and he had no control over why they were allowed to sign up early." He actually did seemed like he knew it was BS. He tossed me a red T-shirt as a consolation prize.
Older folks that were stiffed not so cordial. I kinda come to expect it from Topps so I wasn't surprised.

In 2019 (my first show) I walked up to Topps counter and said to a 30ish woman "this is my first show do you have anything going on I could sign up for? I want to experience everything." She said no not really. Then man walked up next to me and asked if they signing people up for Q and A, and she said, "Yes and you got the last spot." I looked at her dumbfounded and said "I just asked you if I could sign up for something." She said, "Oh, well its full. You should have got here sooner." It took every fiber of my being not to lose it. I was there the entire week and didnt want to get kicked out the 2nd day. In 2021 made sure I asked multiple people and got there in plenty of time. Did the same for this year. After I found out about the Julio auto I realized staff knew what was being given away and "pre" padded the list not giving very many people much of a chance.

I wish the product was better and less expensive. Or even better and *as expensive. The centering issues and near non-existence thus far of any Extended Base SPs of the five guys everyone wants is brutal for this release, both short and long term. Many if not most of the big hits are redemptions. No one is defaming you by pointing this out to you. Stop telling people to call 911 on themselves. These are baseball cards.

Does it though? Or better asked, do you even pay attention to the prices of your PC?

Nobody wants to overpay for anything in life. But you could do far worse than overpay for a card you enjoy. And as prices deflate, I can build the PC bigger and faster.

That said I think you hit a great point-the variance of peoples definition of the term “pc” sure does get exposed a bit in the face of wholesale decreasing card values.

They're gonna get on that one right after the statement about leaving Finest Flashbacks up on their Website for days and then cancelling thousands of orders after tying up those funds from customers for weeks..
