Based on pack odds I estimated the average print run of approx 2,500 per card in the 16 card set, but they’re fairly obscure and I would be surprised if that’s actually accurate. Maybe someone better at estimating pack odds can verify lol.

Anyway, Bonds and A-Rod took some patience to find a fair price. Oddly enough, Ben Grieve was the most challenging to track down (although thankfully I had Shawn Green because I have yet to come across another Shawn Green). Grieve finally arrived in my long-delayed COMC order tonight:

Great accomplishment and very nice cards especially all placed together.

Definitely a cool buy. These cards may not be rare by today’s standards but these cards are not seen that often for cards printed with a run of 10,000

Fun fact! The A's signed Canseco in 97 just so he could be seen in some of the sexiest 90s cards ever while wearing an A's jersey.

“Crossed off” 4 cards in one, as I have been looking for the #’d /100, /75, /50 and the /25 version (for some reason they were on my checklist) for 20 years, and after finding this I discovered each player only has ONE version and Gwynn was the purple #’d /25!! I’d imagine most of you already knew this, I just wasn’t paying attention!

BEAUTIFUL card! The orange background with the purple foil gets me. I never saw one pop up while supercollecting, and have only ever seen 2 pop up for Jose. It is one of the very, very, very few Pacific cards of his I still have!

Oh, and I feel you on the mistaking the numbers thing. I did that with a pacific prism. I thought the red was a holofoil red ... when i found out it was flat, i was severely disappointed, haha.

I'm gonna follow up my previous post with this one as well, as I forgot to mention it a few days ago!

For those of you who don’t know, this card is impossible, in spite of the print run being reported as 200 (actually, the box apparently states /150 ... thanks Joey!) I’ve only seen 2 others in decent condition, ever. Sales history shows 24 other 1997 Ultra Platinum Canseco cards having been sold. 23 of those were the S1 Red Sox version.

PSA shows 83 S1 platinums of any player graded, whereas S2 platinums have a total of 8!

I’ve got theories:

1) Weak checklist. Canseco, Clemens, & some dude named David Arias are the main draws (psst…David Arias is David Ortiz.)

2) Perhaps the boxes didn’t sell well, causing retailers to trash the unopened material.

3) Unopened material may have been stored by collectors and dealers. You know what happens with unopened glossy material
not stored in climate controlled situations…they brick!

4) Apparently they were released around the time football material was being released as well.

This vibrant /200 platinum card may be closer to /10 or /20…you just never know.

This card is now coming up on being a quarter of a century old (feel old yet?) and I’m super happy to own this rarity once more!

I don't have many rare 90's inserts but I dug up some of my old Mo Vaughns just so I could get in on this party, too.

1997 SPX Grand Finale! It is an extremely tough card that is made even tougher due to no serial number stating the print run is /50, and that it is almost impossible in most pictures to distinguish it from its gold counterpart in pictures online!

The 1998 Leaf Fractal Materials Z2-Axis Leather Die Cut is among the rarest cards of its time. Clocking in at just 20 copies, this rarely seen card just might be the king of 90s Canseco die-cuts!
