I thought this was an uncorrected error?

Since we're discussing 1996 Select Certified errors, here's a mirrored version of the Red parallel. (Sorry for the crappy seller's photo, it's all I have available at the moment.)

Some of the unreleased 90’s stuff. Hunted for these for a long time and another Ripken collector that was selling gave me a heads up and we got a deal done!

I just picked this card up a couple of weeks ago (same guy I bought it from had my hockey grail, too). Jorge Posada 1999 Fleer Brilliants 24K Gold.

Sweet pickup, top 5 90's inserts IMO. I just got this Delgado in about a month ago and absolutely love it, super shine. [IMG] [/IMG]

This 1998 SPX Finite Trade Winds Spectrum was able to get from a private collector's collection, and have never seen it for sale before ... ever. When I got it in hand, my jaw dropped - just like it did with the 1998 Essential Credentials parallels. Scans simply don't do this card justice.
Embossing, holograms, rainbow foil ... Upper Deck threw a LOT of technology at it...and it turned out glorious. One of my favorites

I can’t think of another set that shows the player with two different teams.
I agree ‘98 SPX Finite in general is a great product with all the different add-ons & parallels. The holos definitely pop! Quote:

I've asked many a former collector from the 80s/90s: "Why did you leave the hobby?" Their answer always seemed to be "It got too complicated. There were too many types of cards."
Prior to the early 90s, there was a prevalent mindset of "gotta have it all". That mindset continued for many, but by the mid/late 90s, fatigue set in - and with it, the realization that you couldn't get it all. Factor in eBay (the realization of print runs), the lockout, etc. and you have a perfect storm of the hobby changing drastically from what it once was. Still, here we are in 2021. Not only do we laugh at the notion that there were "too many releases" in the 90s; we embrace it. In fact, for the very reason that helped cause a mass exodus is why we enjoy this time period so much now. I had a nice long conversation yesterday with Douglas Dreier about a 19th century piece I have that came from his museum. He told me that he defines rarity based upon the time it would take to acquire a piece. An Example: If you truly wanted a PSA 10 89 UD Griffey, given the funds, you could get one right now. A 52 Mantle? No sweat ... hop on eBay. Heck, even a T206 Wagner or two pops up every year. Now, try finding a 19th century Old Judge or Gypsy Queen of any given player. In some cases, it may take you years, and even then, you might not. Nowadays, you have a glut of 1/1s, /5s, /10s, etc. ala manufactured scarcity. Otherwise, a 1/1 of any given player is awesome, but typically doesn't matter if it is Tier One, Museum, Tribute, Flagship, etc. The key is that it is a 1/1. And because the 1/1 train is being ridden so hard for so long, (negating the premium relic cards) it is no longer the card type that makes it special, but rather the serial number. The might 1/1 stamp. I guess that's why I like the 90s-05 time period so much - it is undeniable that manufactured scarcity exists within the the parallels from these years, but there is a stark difference between them and the cards from the past decade or so - it is instantly recognizable. Their excitement doesn't come from being a "1/1" but rather from the actual sets themselves - sets that were born out of competition. The 98 Essential Credentials are a great example, because they have varying serial numbers, yet, anyone who has one is excited about it - regardless of the numbering. Don't get me wrong, I love many cards that are new - I just picked up a 2021 card the other day - but the time period of 90s-00s has a certain specialness to them. It is like the sweet spot of rarity and beauty.

Some recent 90’s adds. If I recall correctly I backed into an estimated 325-350 copies of each 1999 refractor.
I picked up the Nolan Ryan for my brother who is a big Ryan collector, I couldn’t let the auction pass without intervening on his behalf. Told him I’d probably enjoy it on my wall display for a few days/weeks before I send it along though! Might be the most beautiful card I’ve ever had in hand. The 1999 design is so clean and simple and the refractors are just amazing - added a few other PC guys from that year as well, and might someday pony up for Griffey and Jeets, always keeping eyes peeled for other guys I enjoy. Found some great stadium club parallels - just missed on a griffey first day issue and I’m wishing I’d put a much bigger bid in on that one… The thunderclaps aren’t particularly rare but man they are condition sensitive. PSA pop reports are slim! The Holliday Bowman Chrome International Refractor was a fun find for a really good price. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Yessir! It is serial numbered to /50. According to the pwcc market research tool, only one has popped on ebay over 15 years ago. Curious where the others are!

![]() Omg, this just ruined my day after searching ebay to see what you paid for it. Uggggghhhhhhhhhhhh. I search for him on ebay every 1-2 days usually and you beat me to this one .If you want to move the card let me know, we might be able to come up with something where you make some money and I get a slight deal
