Agreed! Or they change the design completely so he has to refund 50+ that would be great.

While I dislike the early leak, its not really fair to Ermsy. It's his vision and art.

The thread has gone quiet...

Doc Gooden posted autos of P2020 cards on his website this morning, but they all went out quick.
I grabbed a Grotesk card signed /100, but was surprised to see everything go out so quick with the pricing he had on them.
No offense to Doc, but I think the auto prices were pretty high for him, and people will have hard time flipping these if that is their intention.
Below were the posted prices.

Beck Gooden black ink /2 : $1,200
Baller Gooden gold ink /16 : $275
Baller Gooden silver ink /24 : $225
Baller Gooden black ink /30 : $150
Grotesk Gooden black ink /100 : $100

The Grotesk and two lower tiered Baller's seem ok! I wish I would've seen them

Good for Gooden (or his "team") to see a money making opportunity and jump on it.

I like the idea of the artist autos on these, but you could get a Gooden auto for $10 on any number of Topps cards produced within the last 10 years.

Why pay these prices for a Gooden auto?

..........and I'm a Met fan.

The prices weren't too high if they all sold off quick. Doc shouldn't care about flipper profit, only his own. And the quick sellout shows that he can price these even higher next time.

I can't remember exactly what he charges at shows, but it's around $50 I believe (his last send in for private signing was $20).

I'm not criticizing his prices on the P2020 autos this time, and I think it's good that he gets all the money.
It just surprises me that those things sold out that quick with the price tag he had on them, and I can't think that everyone was in it for their "PC".

I'm not saying he should care about flipper's profits.
I actually think the complete opposite.
I'm assuming a lot of flippers bought, and they will see a hard time trying to flip, so it's on them for jumping on it without thinking much (if that was the case for their intent).

I'm happy Doc made his money.
I actually like the Grotesk Gooden card (and I don't really care much about serial numbering when it comes to PC), so was happy to grab that at the lowest pricing option of $100.

From my perspective the player autos have much more long term value than the artist autos. And this is coming from someone who has picked up quite a few artist autos. Not sure how much value is in Gooden but others I can see.

Would be a great idea for Jeter or Griffey to open up a send in program, limit the send in and donate all proceeds to their charities. Id be happy to send in a few high PRs to get signed.

I was originality suspecting this would be the "big hobby news" Baller and Jamieson were pushing. Lol still not sure what that turned out to be.

TBH.....those are some of the cheapest auto prices I’ve seen in the whole project. You know Saladeen and baller and jamieson and efdot are pulling $100k+ per autograph series? Higher prices and more cards than the gooden ones.

Seriously I’ve said it like 17 times In thread. Once you stop trying to apply every and all logic to this set, and stop trying to figure out ~why things are the way they are, you can really start to enjoy and appreciate the set, especially the in hand cards!

Also, what if you get to a show and he says “I’m not signing project 2020” then you missed your buying window from him and have to fork over even MORE on the secondary.

Plus- I know people who are collecting ONLY autos from the set.

And the best players (Mantle, DiMaggio & Williams) were $20 or less at shows.

I'm not trying to be logical or anything, but probably went too deep replying to the comments I received on my post.
I've been in on this product since day 1, and I enjoy the process of trying to complete a full 400 card set, as well as some artist/player sets.
So, I'll just leave the argument of "too expensive / not expensive" behind here.

You might be right about some players deciding to not sign P2020 cards at shows.
Maybe that is why he signed my Ermsy Gooden card on one touch and not the card when I sent it in few weeks ago...
He might have already had the plan for P2020 autos going up on his website, and decided not to sign any for private signing.
Or, maybe he doesn't like the Ermsy Gooden card and decided not to sign.
I kinda suspected that when I saw the Ermsy option wasn't available on his website. But again, that may just be me overthinking.

As an Ichiro collector, I can't wait for the Keith Shore Ichiro to come out on Wednesday (if schedule remains same).

What if all 20 cards of all 20 players leaked on day 1...would everyone still be interested in the P2020?

Looking at current prices of stuff selling at $20 each that was selling at 15x a few weeks ago, I wonder at what print run we see $20 resales? Is it 10k? 8k? Pretty crazy to see cards that were $300+ selling for $20 on eBay today.

Man, me too.

Living in St. Petersburg in the 80s during Spring Training, I had more Mets and Cardinals autographs than I could handle. Must have had 5 or 6 #620s autographed at one point.

Ozzie was always everyone's favorite though. Strawberry, not so much.....

It's not the same if it wasn't obtained personally, IMO.
