Unfortunately for them, they squandered so many should be wins with horrific backcourt play, low percentage shot selection, and 4th quarter collapses that you had to see to believe.

They just started utilizing a more Zioncentric game plan. He’s still getting his, but unfortunately when the defense collapses on him, there are below average perimeter shooters surrounding him to kick to.

If the Pelicans want to be successful, they absolutely have to trade for TRUE three point shooters that can also play at least an acceptable level of perimeter defense.

I’ll be surprised if they get within 15 points of the Jazz tonight based on the perimeter game disparity.

I agree. They are scrambling for a new offensive system. Zion has been bringing the ball up often now, and while he is very talented in many ways, he doesn’t have NBA point guard level vision or handles. It’s an awkward offensive catalyst. The chemistry will Lonzo is developing too slowly. Also he is getting stuck in midrange double teams which stalls the offensive rhythm. Team is going to need a rebuild in the offseason.

I’m not necessarily concerned with Zion’s ability as a catalyst nearly as much as the pieces surrounding him simply being the exact opposite of what they should be. I can’t even count how many times his teammates have bricked wide open looks that he has created through commanding the attention of almost the entirety of the opponent’s defense on each play. His ball handling is also far more under control than it was early on, especially in transition.

Personally, I think that if you go point Zion, you desperately need shooting. If you want to use him in pick and roll scenarios, you need an elite guard who is also a legitimate offensive threat so they don’t just immediately collapse on Zion following the roll. I’m good with either one of those options because Zion has proven that he can excel in both scenarios, but their current configuration simply won’t make them a contender.

It’s easier to find a guard or a shooter though than it is to find a Zion. So in my opinion, you have to build around the biggest weapon that you have and the Pelicans certainly haven’t done so yet.

The things that put me over the top:

1) between the legs action shot. Cool
2) price - all things considered... These werent crazy expensive
3) pop reports. Astro is pop 17 with 86 graded. 19.7% gem rate
Groove is pop 23 with 61 graded. 37% gem rate.

Now I need to find a galactic!

I'm so torn on the grading aspect. I've never bought a PSA card but do realize it helps the value so so much. I do want to get a Revolution but the raw base will be about all I can afford at current prices.

I think if Zion and Ingram can orchestra more of a 2 man game we can see some improvement. Hard to do that when you don’t have that 3rd star. I can agree we need better shooters all around and somebody you can rely on to make the 3. I was hoping we could see that in NAW/Kira. Team is still young

I don't understand why they don't operate the pnr with BI and Zion. That's the only pairing that would make sense since both are the only ones that command defensive respect on the squad.

Thus far the only success they've had is with old man Reddick? Wut.

Overall, Williamson assists on 16.2 percent of the Pelicans' buckets when he's on the floor this season, up from 11.9 percent last season, and his assist ratio has grown by almost 50 percent since his rookie year.

Looking at potential assists (shots created by Zion that were missed) is a better indicator of the growth he's made as a passer, and that number has increased from 3.2 last season to 6.1 this season.

Again, having inept teammates that can't knock down open 3's is a glaring issue. There is zero consistency from the backcourt. Zero.

Heard during the last game, or maybe the one prior, that the 3PT% made vs allowed differential for the Pels this year was the worst in NBA history.

how do you think the on-card signature gets on the card? I have a ton of RPAs and autos where you can see exactly where the players hand caused an abrasion on the surface.

lol nice pickups. when I started seeing these disappear from my cart I figured you might be behind it. I "only" picked up a couple PSA 10s, although my big boy has been stuck in transit for over 2 weeks... hopefully it finds its way to me and I'll share

Team is playing well tonight. You can sense the Jazz thinking what do we need to do to pull away. Zion needs to not get ball shy the rest of the way, and they have a good chance.
