That's good. I think Trae has a chip on his shoulder about it which has been pushing him to play harder. He'll probably never say it but he's definitely still competing with what Luka does on a nightly based. He's been pretty overshadowed by Luka but he's been pretty good as well.

49 is not low?!?! there are 49 TOTAL cards of the orange and only a very small handful of them are psa graded and 11 psa 10.... so extremely rare that one of these comes up for auction, people need to go for it when its available because it may not be again for 6mo and who knows what the price will be at that point.

Probstein has a bunch of high end/low numbered cards coming to an end next week including:

purple prizm ice /149 psa 10
contenders cracked ice auto /20 bgs 9.5
fast break purple /125 psa 10
contenders blue ticket auto /99
prizm blue ice /99 psa 10
fast break bronze /20 psa 10

again, someone wants these they will pay to get them. i'm willing to bet at minimum the blue ice and the FB bronze will fetch 5 figures!!

Doesn’t have to be NT. Just saying that colored Prizm and optics have experienced crazier multiples than anything, and it makes the least amount of sense to me. Changing the color and printing the SP is cool, but not like “extra $10k” cool. On card autos and patches are just more appealing to me aesthetically and I guess it’s easier for me to justify spending money on, like buying an original piece of art rather than a reprint.

Just for some perspective, Luka pink Ice 10s have gone from $150 to $1k. Silvers went from $500 to $2k. Orange went from $3.75k to $14k. These multiples are 6x, 4x, 4x respectively. Orange is SP I get, but it’s still an outrageous amount of money.

Impeccable RPAs on the other hand have “only” doubled from $2k to $4k, and Noir looks like it’s finally pushed up to $1.2k from $400, for a multiple of 3x.

People can buy what they want to buy, I’m just saying from my perspective it doesn’t make any sense and the value of the mass-produced type cards seems less likely to hold up in the long run

Last, full disclosure I do own a handful of RPAs and Prizms, but only have base up for sale right now so not trying to pump anything

But you’re comparing the flagship Panini product to a bunch of stuff that is an afterthought for most people.

Prizm is the best of the non-auto.

NT is the best of the auto.

Lines like Impeccable and Noir are afterthoughts and always will be. Prizm being mass produced is what makes it so great. You can obtain the Prizm image for $80 or you can obtain it for $100k plus. Just depends on what color you want. People want what other’s have, just in different form factors.

This is 100% correct. If rarity took the cake, spectra would be far more valuable than prizm. Only 175 of the base card. Only 50 of the Silvers. But these are a fraction of prizm. Partly because they are so rare, they cant create a mass market. The fact that prizm trades in high volumes makes it appealing to far more people, creating demand with an adequate supply.

I agree with both statements. BUT, there's also a relationship between ALL lines that should be maintained, or even skew towards non Prizm and NT as prices increase.

For example, if you take a player in a stable environment (Luka is too volatile for analysis right now), there tends to be a relationship between vertical NTs and horizontal NTs that's somewhere around 3:1, and same thing between PSA 10s and 9s.

I'd argue that this type of hierarchical relationship exists between these lines and other products as well. so when I see Prizm silvers (perhaps the ultimate measuring stick of any player) go 4x, but other lines "only doubling", it tells me those are perhaps in line for a pop, or that Prizm spiked too dramatically

In the opposite direction, as the price of your Prizms and NTs go beyond the reach of the public, you see some of the "cheaper" lines like Optic pop... then when that became too expensive, you see people snagging Chronicles, and on down the line. % increases of those lines are probably more than 4x at this point, because of the absolute dollar figures starting so low.

I guess what I'm saying is that at some point, these things hit a plateau or ceiling, as your audience becomes exponentially smaller once you're in the 4 and 5 digit prices. And, if I'm dropping that much cash on a piece of cardboard, my preference is always going to be on the cardboard with his DNA on it. colored prizms are just that, the same card, same photo, the only difference is the border and a # stamp. I prefer the look of silvers and blues over any other parallels, so seeing the % increase of weird mismatch colors like pinks and oranges is baffling

Regretting selling off both my NT Luka Horiz RPAs. Traded one for Juan Soto cards and the other sold for $5450 to someone in this thread. I ended up putting most of that $$ back into ungraded Luka cards though so I didn’t miss out on the inflation just trying to get back some bigger cards again!
