I don't want to be a detriment to the integrity of the league with my lack of participation so should I just opt out? I planned on not touching my team at all this season. No add/drops, no trades, not setting my lineup, etc.

I hadn't thought of that. Good point. I don't have any good immediate solutions there

what do you mean "opt out" to me if the majority of the league is moving forward with playing then you opting out means we find a replacement...i dont want that ...but i dont understand....we obviously cant just play with only those who want to actually play...

and to be honest....IF we are going to play and someone wants to opt out....you get last pick in the round...you go to end for not even trying

its all or nothing....its not like a player on an MLB team opting out...its like the Tigers Opting out....not an option

I'm not trying to be contrary. But I'm also not going to sit here and make the best of a bad situation. Baseball is a marathon not a 60 game sprint. I have no interest in spending my time worrying about who has Covid today on my roster and trying to replace them. It's pointless.

man if anything i am welcoming the sprint!! anything to watch/root for at this point....

im a big stats guy and that is actually the thing that bums me out more than anything! older guys or younger guys....they just lost minimum 2/3 a season towards their career stats...

JV potentially loses his shot at 300 wins and a bunch of K's to keep moving up that chart

Same with Scherzer....Kershaw loses some stats that would continue bulking his resume...

Trout loses a season worth of stats....

all these young beasts who were "look at his career stats and he is only 21"....well now they are 22 and the stats arent going to change much...that stuff bums me out...

but i still want to watch and am excited and hope that it can work out for even the 60gm season!

and yea...i love fantasy baseball...its like 100x better than football in my opinion...and 60gm is obv. not ideal for fantasy...but its better than literally nothing like the last 4 months!!

One point of clarification. Chris brought this up in my R2G league. Should the threshold for a valid season be any one team IRL reaching 40 games played? Or ALL teams reaching 40? I initially said just one above but thinking it through I think all makes more sense

Why go by games played? Why not just go by weeks or a set day? 4 weeks of matchups complete or August 28th or something.

Doesn't matter to me... The difference between 40 games for 1 team and all teams is a matter of 2-3 days.

The concern was if there is a team or a small group of teams that can't play their games if their states go south and don't let them play. Now I'm assuming the MLB has backup plans in place to let them finish, but if for example California goes south and all of a sudden the Angels, Dodgers, A's, and Padres (sorry Giants, nobody cares if you can't play ), that changes the landscape pretty significantly with Trout, Rendon, Ohtani, Mookie, Bellinger, Tatis, etc etc out of action

Again I would hope the MLB has backup plans in place so I don't think that will be a concern, but it is something that came up

i agree...and if we are using "40" as the number than yea if anyone gets there then its hit....but also with the condensed schedule im guessing at most it would be like 1 day window where half are at 40 and then the other half join the next day basically

I am cool with either option. 1 team hitting 40 games would be far easier to track thou. So that would be my pick.


We also need to start these extra 2 draft rounds by Tommorow/Friday with the season starting on the 23rd.



Also.... What happens with Ray. I will cover his $20 to not mess up the pot if he doesn't want to play this season, and we don't want to find a replacement. Seems kinda pointless to have a team just sit untouched for the season thou. You also can't really have an owner fill in for the 60 game stretch just go give it back to Ray. Owner could make moves to mess up what Ray was doing.

If Ray doesn't want a refund, then I would consider him an active team. He can make adds/drops/trades if he happens to change his mind, and his team will accrue wins and losses like everyone else

We are ready to get started. I added a tab to our draft and results spreadsheet for all things related to this season. First order of business is knocking out this 2-round draft to fill the 2 extra roster slots. We are picking up the snake order where we left off, so the order is-

Ok, slight problem, ESPN doesn't want to let me change roster sizes or DL slots since our draft has already completed. I really don't want to have to ask everyone to get set up in a new league, but that may be what we have to do. Anyone else have an idea as a workaround?

New League

ESPN will not let me update our league with revised roster size since our draft has already completed. This is a huge PITA, but the only option I see is to have everyone quickly join a new league that I created. We will have to use this new league to play in this year

We are doing 2 additional quick rounds of draft picks to initially fill our extra roster slots. We are starting this now to get it finished in time for the season. We will pick up the snake order in the draft where it left off, so our order is-

You can use our old league to see who is available to be selected. I also added a tab to our draft and results spreadsheet to track this draft, and I'll create a section for calculating wins and losses as well. Once these 2 rounds are complete, I will import rosters into the new league

Please remember to PM the person with the pick after you. I'd like to get through this quickly so I have some time to get things set up in ESPN
