The Chiefs routinely draft WR's lower in the draft hoping they'll be the next Randy Moss, OR they trade for meh WRs that other teams have let go. I don't get it. Mahomes routinely had 5 sec in the pocket and still...no one could get open......or catch. Yesterday's loss might have been the best thing for KC...to possibly go shop for a WR.

Yeah, Skyy Moore ain't. His snap count/catch ratio is abysmal and he can't be dropping TD's that are perfect passes like that. He has had more than enough time to prove himself or at least show flashes and he's just...not good.
And I was just waiting for Hardman to fumble/muff at some point. Didn't take long! |

After a week ago I’d bet Veach was content just rolling with the current roster for the remainder of the year, but after yesterday’s debacle (and Ross going to the exempt list), he might entertain adding another WR (Thielen, Hopkins, and Hollywood Brown come to mind).

Last thing - I cannot stand Andy's Reid's conservative nature on these 4th downs. It's like he has decided that under no circumstances will he go for it on 4th early in a game. He does not believe in his personnel at all. I do not recall this being the case early in Mahomes career. That 2nd drive of the game when it's like 4th and 2 inside the 10 or whatever and you're down 7-0 to the Broncos...have some balls/trust. I'm sure it's frustrating for the players too. |

Ugghhh. I'm not excited for this breakdown. Realistically, they moved the ball, but 5 turnovers and poor red zone execution will doom you.

But really, I think you could find a practice squad vet somewhere in the NFL that gives you more than what he does. Rashee Rice makes some bad drops, but he also makes some nice plays to offset. Moore just doesn't seem to have NFL starter ability.

Just gonna etch-a sketch that game and forget about it.
Mahomes had the flu and was getting IV's all day. Just with their receivers and special teams weren't liabilities. |

Fun stats:
Both Skyy Moore and Kadarius Toney have lower "Passer Ratings When Targeted" than..... Donovan Smith Furthermore, Skyy Moore has 191 total yards on 323 offensive snaps.

I do think they're using him incorrectly given his skill set and the offense he was a part of at WMU. Just a few of my thoughts given my somewhat passive observation of the game yesterday: The OT situation is not ideal, but with a sick Mahomes, it is amplified. He was definitely not himself yesterday. No excuses for that, he chose to play, but he was not sharp at all. Taylor struggled at times with Bonnitto because Bonnitto can get under a guy like Taylor. Smith is a bit too sluggish to deal with smaller rushers too. The Broncos' trimming of dead weight has paid huge dividends for their Defense. The Dolphins dropping 70 on them might've been the best thing Vance Joseph needed to wake that crew up. Justin Simmons has always been a pain in the ass for the Chiefs and that hasn't changed. Way too many critical mistakes across the team to win combined with the turnovers. Wilson wasn't sharp but made just enough throws to win. Their running game saved their asses yesterday. The Chiefs need to stop being so lateral at times to help push the defense back. I know they're trying to still iron things out but endlessly going sideways with the ball is troublesome. Push the ball down field. Credit to the Defense from keeping that game from being a rout. Three short field TD's and a FG from a TOD is about all you can expect out of a unit that is getting thin at LB and was on the field too much. I am hoping they are much sharper against Miami, I do think Miami is a bit of a finesse football team and become fairly ordinary when they cannot run the ball, but the Chiefs need to execute better in order to get the Offense moving again.

I'm doing it... Wanted to watch something scary tonight, so the All-22 it is.
I'm prepared critique Mahomes as harshly as anybody else (other than Skyy Moore. F him)

Rough rough rough game
Offense still looked sluggish and this time the defense could not stop the run at all. Defense made several plays that in the past few games have kept them alive, but the o couldn't get the ball in. Not a fan at all of Mecole...I was happy when he left and not when he came back. I think all of the punts he fielded should have been fair catches. He got away with the first one, but the fumble was atrocious. All good things come to an end.....gotta wait until next year to start the streak all over.

Oddly, the rumors are the Chiefs are more likely to trade away a receiver rather than bring in another WR.

I would love to see Chiefs go after D-Hen.
I think he would be a fantastic short term rental and take the pressure off Patty and the defense. Wishfull thinking, I know. |

I don’t think they need to do anything.
As the great Nick Wright said, with that embarrassing loss the Chiefs dropped from #1 in the AFC all the way down to…#1. More losses to come from the Chiefs as well as the Ravens/Bengals/Bills/Fins

Watched the Broncos film and here are my notes:
-1st play: Run blown up by some great defense from Denver #56 Baron Browning. Sometimes the other team makes the play. -1st 3rd down: This one is on Mahomes. First he looks at Kelce a bit to longer and misses and open window to throw the Watson, then scrambles and misses an open McKinnon for a big gain. -Leo Chenal saves a TD in Punt return by not quitting on the play. Love this guy. -2nd possession: Busted up screen is another perfect play call for Denver. -3rd and Long Mahomes makes a silly-good throw to Watson. Top end stuff. -Kadarious Toney is not a running back. He shouldn't be making run decisions between the tackles -Baron Browning blows up the shovel pass to Rice that otherwise woulda been a TD. -The MVS fumble was gross. One of the few plays so far where we have multiple receivers wide open. -The first Mahomes INT: He stares down Kelce and tries to thread a pass that isn't open. It was like he had his mind made up pre snap. -The next drive on 2nd down in the red zone, Mahomes looked for Kelce first and waits for him to finish his option route. Kelce doesn't run it well, and by the time Mahomes looks off, Grey is no longer open. Again, staring down Kelce. -MVS doesn't come back to the ball on a deep out 1:1 -To my surprise, Moore runs a good route vs a linebacker, but cant be dynamic after the catch and just gets 5 yards. -Hardman has a great opportunity for a 15 yard catch over the middle, but takes too long to get out of his route and Mahomes looks elsewhere -Mahomes is strip sacked by... you guessed it, Baron Browning. Moore came open on this play, but it was a late read. -First drive of the second half, Broncos blitz. MVS gets behind the secondary but Mahomes is looking to throw the out to the stick to Hardman. By the time he adjusts the pressure is there. Probable big play if he makes the right read. Next play is the Rashee drop. He has a lot of room to run in he catches this. -For all the great throws Mahomes makes, he missed one on a deep corner to Watson that could have gone for a 50 yd td. It wasn't an easy throw, but it was makeable. -Hardman muffed punt -Kelce drop after Oline missed the blitz pickup -Great 4th down play to get Kelce an easy catch. Score one for Andy. -Geez. The Skyy Moore drop. There's no defending this. You get your number called and the safety absolutely forgets about you. The ball goes right through his arms in the end zone and that's that. Could have been the one that gote them back in the game. -The last drive: Another sack by Browning. So overall what I saw is that the Broncos had a great game plan to start the game. In an ultimate catch 22, Mahomes spend the first half staring down Kelce more than he should have. Then in the second half, he spread the ball around as he should and the receivers let him down with two critical drops and some lackluster route running. Out of the 3 deep opportunities that were there, one Mahomes made a safe read, one was an overthrow of Watson, and one was a stone cold drop by Skyy Less. I probably glossed over more good things than bad, but at the end of the day the issue is that when you have this many things you don't execute on, and they are all across the board like this, you have a bad day.
