LOL cancelling individual backers is a thing? You've got to be kidding me - that's just absurd! And the response? Absolutely pathetic. There's no realm of possibility where that comment wasn't written by a 10 year old bully named JOE who every kid in the elementary school abhors.

I'm so sorry this happened Dyna - don't let this experience sour your love for MM.

Default 1992 MARVEL MASTERPIECES 30th Anniversary Book

So, great update on this. I have been in communication with FPG and I am able to retain the pledge- this was actually more of a misunderstanding than anything. I dont think the intention was to nefariously remove my pledge, by either them or Joe, it was more just to cancel it because they thought I wanted to get out of it and not have to wait anymore (of course at this point, Im in it for the long run, certainly dont want to lose the pledge...and will wait it out to get this awesome project).

With all that settled, they really were kind in our email exchange. Very professional and courteous, and this was in spite of me sounding rather irritated in my first email last night sent to them after I learned what happened, almost shocked by the pledge removal, and had a sleepless night. They cleared it all up earlier today, even writing to me in the middle of the night to correct things.

I know there have been frustrations laid out in here, by both myself and others, in many cases justified....we all do want the best transparency and of course no one wants delays. But to take a page from jdandns' book, patience is the way forward....I do think they're doing what they can to get these books in our hands asap. This much I gleaned from our exchanges.

And needless to say, no blame at all towards Joe himself....that is not the issue here. Nobody meant any disrespect whatsoever. Im to the point now that I hope cooler heads prevail (including mine!), hopefully there will be less drama in the project, and that we get our books soon. Thanks all in here for the words of backing. It means a lot to still be in this project being such a fan of MM over the years.

oh and to that point about finding the 94MM magneto 4-panel promo magazine- ha what a painting indeed! Louvre worthy, no doubt- I'd be riding off into the sunset in it, finally conquering that mystery of all MM mysteries

Appreciate that- it has not thankfully. I have a feeling when these books finally come they'll be wonderful additions in chronicling the MM history. I think as fabiani was alluding to, when all is said and done we can look back at this and remember all the twists and turns....quite the journey with this book, but worth it in the end.

Glad to hear you were able to get things cleared up. Good on FPG for making things right.

It's good to see Dyna is back on board with the project -- we can't be having one of the biggest 1992 MM fans not being a backer and receiving the first batch of books. Hopefully, we'll get this project in hand some time later this year and we can all discuss it.

FPG has been making cool stuff for a long time, ahem, as they mentioned, and I'm confident that once delivered, these books and extras will join the list.

In the 90's, they released an impressive line of art trading cards featuring some incredible fantasy artists, with certified artist autographs in virtually every set, and even occasional sketch cards or an opportunity to win larger original art, at a time when such things were far from standard chase cards.

I remember anxiously awaiting their Steranko set, opening my box right there in the LCS the day it went on sale...and pulling a Steranko autograph card from the very first pack I opened. It's still among my prized-est possessions almost 30 years later.

Just wow. Checking out the comments and whoever PLOOG is I sincerely hope FPG never lets him near a keyboard again. Honestly at this point I am convinced it's one person using different names...

This ia appalling with the delays..I have backed 3 other kickstarters for items ahipping from china and they have been always on time or even early.. the covid excuses holds no wieght even woth millon dollar kickstarter have been able to get thier stuff to thier backers in a timely manner. I'm truely disappointed.

HELLO SAM!

AGAIN, I PICKED A BAD DAY TO BE GUEST RESPONDER!

I HAVE MY THOUGHTS ON SHIPPERS AND MANUFACTURERS STILL CHARGING FPG EXTRA FOR "COVID RELATED DELAYS" BUT I SHOULD KEEP THEM TO MYSELF!

THESE ARE GOOD FOLKS AT FPG. VERY GOOD.

PLOOG

PS THE BOOKS ARE IN THE WATER. I KNOW MOST DELAYS ARE FROM FPG'S AMERICAN PRINTERS THAT WERE LINED UP GOING OUT OF BUSINESS MID-JOB BECAUSE OF THE WAY THEY WERE TREATING WITH COVID RELATED PRICING. SO TALK ABOUT HAVING TO REARRANGE A TON OF MOVING PARTS.

AND YOU THINK THIS IS APPALLING? TRY SPENDING TEN YEARS IN THE MARINES DURING VIETNAM...

1. causing shock or dismay; horrific: "the cat suffered appalling injuries during the attack"

Also

I PICKED A BAD DAY TO BE GUEST REPLYING GUY! :-)

I HAVE A LIST IN FRONT OF ME AND YOU ARE BACKER 7 THAT IS FRUSTRATED FOR US, AND ABOUT 35 EMPLOYEES AT FPG.

I HAVE MY THOUGHTS ON SHIPPERS AND MANUFACTURERS STILL CHARGING EXTRA FOR "COVID RELATED DELAYS" BUT I SHOULD KEEP THEM TO MYSELF!

wtf is that?? didn't think the customer service could get worse, but should always prepare to be surprised.

I have worked around companies dealing with front end customers, customer service and complaints for years and just dont understand how this company cares so little about customer service, it really baffles me

Could that be artist Mike Ploog? FPG has released two The Art of Ploog books.

According to Wiki he did serve 10 years in the Marines leaving service in 1968…during the Vietnam War.

Calls to mind the Seinfeld episode "The Fatigues" where Elaine keeps promoting the mailroom guy because she's too frightened to fire him and he winds up writing copy for the catalog about how it's tough to keep your feet dry when you're kickin' in a skull.

Maybe somebody can ask their Magic 8 ball. It’d be just as useful as any posts at the official Kickstarter page.

Latest update up. Books still not there but they intend to be shipping the extras in the next week or two. Keep your eyes peeled for the surveys apparently.

Waiting is hard for all of us. Things that are beyond your control are especially hard to wait for. We can’t control a shipping vessel working its way to the port with the books, no matter how much we want to (and we REALLY want to).

So, what about the things we CAN control? Those are the extras, and they are pretty darn cool! Think about the metal Hulk cards, the heavyweight bronze cards, the one-of-one colorized variant bronze cards, and, of course, the 45 solid silver cards (15 each of Spider-Man, HULK and Psylocke). And, YES, the one-and-only solid gold Spider-Man card!

We want to be able to ship something to you at the end of this month like we hoped, so the extras are going to start rolling out to everyone in the next two weeks. We’re going to send out surveys this week to gather your shipping information and get them on their way, with the books to follow as soon as they reach us. Of course, the cost of shipping on this current batch of coolness is on us. Frankly, it's the least that we can do.

If we have said it once, we will say it a hundred times: We do not take any of you for granted. We truly get it.

I'm interested to see how the silver ones look -- they should really pop.

I wonder a couple of things:
a) do they *really* have the extras in-hand that they claim they want to ship out? Or just some of the extras?
b) will they do an online 5x random.org draw and post the video?

I figure a) is likely to be true and b) is never gonna happen because accountability

Yes it sounds like they gave a second year Comms student 100 bucks to write it or at least outsourced it on fiver.

It's great that FPG plans to start shipping out the extras that nobody asked for or pledged money for. Free stuff is cool. I'll probably sell whatever I get because I don't want metal cards other than the bronze Spider-Man card that was part of the original pledge.

What I really want is an honest answer about what's going on.

Quote:
August 8, 2023 update: "We have an updated estimated shipping time of September-October."

October 2, 2023 update: "While ALL elements of production have finally started to arrive, it looks like the final ship date will be in December. "

November 15, 2023 update: "We have received shipping dates from our printers, and they are telling us a mid-late December shipping time."

December 12, 2023 update: "WE ARE PUSHING AND PUSHING TO GET ALL OF THE FINAL, PRINTED BOOKS TO US HERE IN OUR WAREHOUSES!!!"

January 1, 2024 update: "As you all know, the book is finished, and we are trying to get it here as fast as we can."

January 2, 2024 update: "Okay, the books aren't here yet. We are hoping for the end of March, but in the meantime, let's try to make things a little better."

February 10, 2024 update: "The books are done, and we are still awaiting delivery, which should be mid-end March."

March 18, 2024 update: "We can’t control a shipping vessel working its way to the port with the books, no matter how much we want to (and we REALLY want to)."
If you notice, there's not one single update that 100% confirms the books have actually left the printers, although the latest update suggests the books are on a cargo ship bound for the United States. I remain somewhat unconvinced the books are actually printed, let alone on a boat.
