Hobby?? Paying $250 for a HB is sounding less and less enticing...

Thankfully I only paid around $175 per box before the uptick in price but yes, it was a pretty bad case.

Me as well. I thought I did okay, but then started seeing all these cosmics and 1/1’s popping out blasters and was like well…FK me for buying the higher priced option.

Yep, it's one thing to steal the spotlight from sets like Beginnings and Anime. But this is also drawing attention away from Masterpieces. I think collectors are just fed up with the price gouging and bad QC.

Coming from someone who has made their living buying and selling comics/art etc for decades, I've stayed away from comic cards mostly since the 90's stuff. This set though is just pure fun with all of the parallels and price point. Obviously that 8 box blaster run of hotness has me at full on obsession mode with these right now, but I had bought some of these before just because of how much I like them. (I'd ordered 5 from UD, and found 5 at a Meijer before last weekend) The 2 versions with the already printed art and the new art are awesome. I have very few complaints about this set really, and even those complaints are minor. I mean I wish they had picked better published art for Wanda, Rogue and Emma Frost..Those are slight misses to me, but overall this set has me psyched about Marvel cards for the first time in a really long time.

Also, I cited those 3 "misses" mostly because I would be inclined to build rainbows of those had they chosen art more to my liking. There are some other head scratchers too, but overall I'd give the art an A.

Leave it to Upper Deck to finally release a fairly universally praised product and still manage to alienate the fan base by putting bigger hits in blasters than hobby boxes lol

You can't use anecdotal evidence from the above though. I opened 24 hobby boxes and 100 blaster boxes and while I didn't hit any big characters, I hit a large amount of low serial numbered hits in hobby and just one in retail.

It really is luck of the draw.

Blasters you can hardly find and aren't available on the UD store anymore!

Holy cow where were you able to find 100 blaster boxes? Tons of separate orders from Walmart and/or the Upper Deck store?

Opened 3 boxes

I was so let down when I opened the 2nd box and it was literally all the exact same makeup of the 1st box with maybe 4 base cards being different. Even the rainbow's ended up being mostly doubles..... but I did pull this

3rd box was much better with all new base cards and a very nice hit

Selling both on my ebay page as an auction currently. No clue what there likely to go for.

Very cool set so far!

Very nice hits, that Cosmic Spidey cover variant is a big one.

Spot seems to have a surprising following, despite his relative obscurity. Im not sure exactly why....maybe because his interesting visual and because he has been on so little cards.

Spot was featured in into the spiderverse as one of the big bads. Also the card in the seismic gold variety looks amazing on that card in paticular.

It also dosnt hurt that it features spidey front and center

Good point about the Spidey, ha It is definitely an interesting depiction of Spot.

Normally I'd say everything goes down from the initial hype, but it wouldn't surprise me if the cosmics and golds actually go up over time. This is my favorite modern marvel set ever.

Exact same boat here. I'm a little surprised this thread doesn't get more posts honestly. I monitor Ebay for this stuff probably as much as anyone and sales are very healthy. The FB Marvel Card group I'm in is all about this set too with tons of posts every day.
Personally I've bought a few gold seismics of characters I've liked (in addition to the monsters I pulled a couple of weeks ago), and I'm roughly 60 cards away from a blue surge set.

In last 24 hrs I’ve sold on eBay via COMC

2023 Upper Deck Marvel Platinum - Super Statistics - Rainbow #PL14
Spider-Man for $20; and

2023 Upper Deck Marvel Platinum - [Base] - Red Prism #83
Spider-Man #64/199 for $50.

I also sold the Brother Voodoo /10 I mentioned upthread earlier in the week for $130.

I also sent my Venom and Spider-Gwen blue surges to be slabbed that hopefully come back 10. And I’ve picked up some plates and slabbed quite a few PC items as well.

And I even went to Walmart again today but I’m pretty sure that ship has sailed.

Part of that is social media vs forums (we probably have like 20 regular posters in this section). Also for some of the posters their nonsports interest is in the autograph/sketch side of the hobby, which this set isnt as much. A place like FB marvel group is specifically Marvel, especially newer flashy sets like this, which is perfect for character collectors and what not. That all being said, this set thread has seen a lot more action pre-epack than many other sets, second only to maybe MM22. Like all UD marvel releases, there will be a little lull after the initial excitement (as less product is being opened now), until when epack hits. When epack drops it'll pick up then when people start posting their epack hits....usually how these set threads go.

Just got this one in. It’s my favorite art in the set. I think I opened eBay just at the right time. I think I got a pretty good deal on it.
