Just an opinion, but I think it would take a lot longer for cards to arrive if they were serial numbered.

What if they just add the total print run in one place?

I mean if it was in the top left corner on the back in the same size as the card number I suppose that would be neat but it's not necessary. Would be weird on some cards... Like hey there's 12,484 of these just so you know now.
