1999 UD Victory Paul O'Neill & Alfonso Soriano Rookie Misprint Error Card -- Have been on the hunt for a singular Soriano rookie. Found this misprint, it is one which only an O'Neill collector would appreciate.

Were such errors commonplace in this set?

Not an insert per se, but just found out that my 1992 Donruss Diamond Kings Supers Cal Ripken Jr. DK-5 graded as only the second ever PSA 10 for a Ripken (and only the 17th ever to gem out of the entire 27-card set). I only know the rough history/basics, but apparently these are fairly few and far between, especially in good condition, so it's a huge add to my Ripken PC.

IAMNOTACAT -- Very cool! Interesting combo, figured there were more out there.

MegaMan -- Congrats, some of the 90s jumbos are surprisingly tough. I had bought a 1995 Score Kit hoping to pull a Jumbo O'Neill Score Rules, ended up getting a Ripken. He seem to be easier to find, but have yet to come across an O'Neill. Still have the Score branded set binder still, cool piece of branding which I've held onto.

That's ridiculously impressive! I have a Joe Carter and Jay Bell from this set, and I think they're both graded PSA 6.

Yes, I still have it. They are an insert in from 1998 Flair Showcase. There are no parallels or other versions. Just 10 players at 10 copies each for a total of 100 cards…..that’s it. I did the odds numbers a few years ago and you are about 8x(don’t quote me on the exact number) more likely to pull a Masterpiece. It has a canvas type front that was made like a painting. I always thought it would be cool to have the original painting they used to make the card.

It’s right at the top of my favorite cards in my collection.

What is the value on this card if you were to sell? Yours is the only one I’ve seen anywhere besides mine. Don’t even know where to start with this card. Mine is 01/10

I gave $202.50 in 2020 when everything was going crazy. The 90’s cards of Nomar have stayed pretty strong though even after the craze died down. I’d guess that one would bring $400ish at auction now. I personally love them but not many people know of them and they aren’t flashy.

If you ever want to sell yours, I would definitely be interested.

Thank you for all the info. Yeah it was one I had in my collection since 1998. I almost posted when I started getting back into cards again in 2020. Lol glad I didn’t. Some cards I did post I now regret doing so, but I did get good money for them. This one I found and wasn’t sure if I wanted to sell or not, so I held off. If I do decide to sell, I will keep you in mind. Thanks again.

So this is a real oddball and I’m curious if anyone here knows more about it. I acquired this card today after looking for one for years (1980-1992 Cal is my main PC). It came from Facebook marketplace of all places, and a very fair price. I was floored when it actually showed up in the mail today, as pictured.

I’ve only ever located 3 copies (this one and 2 authenticated by PSA, one of them pictured below). These were signed by Cal as part of the 1992 6-player Jimmy Dean “Living Legends” series (none of the other 5 players signed, best I can tell). This is not an obtained-after-the-fact Cal auto, though it appears the underlying card is otherwise 100% identical to the base non-auto version (which are plentiful, of course), aside from the bold black signature. (As an aside, this is my favorite era of Cal signature - absolute perfection.) See the COA (which isn’t attached to my copy, but that I found with one of the PSA-slabbed copies), indicating that these were signed as part of the release.

What I don’t know is how these were distributed, how many copies were signed, etc. I found about the card in a Cal “collector’s guide” from the early 90s, but again had never seen one in person until today. Even some of the huge comprehensive Cal collections I’ve seen online don’t have a copy (at least not pictured).

I’m hoping to get PSA to authenticate this as an “autograph” release (a la the 1992 Ripken Elite Signature Series) rather than simply a signed trading card, but not sure the process for that or how receptive they’ll be considering how rare/unusual it seems to be. I think the COA goes a long way. Also it’s quite obvious comparing the two signatures I now have images of, and how similar they are struck, that these were signed effectively simultaneously.

Curious if anyone has more to share about this weird one!

My favorite pickup of 2023 so far. This is the serial #'d 1/1 copy, there is also a replacement non #'d copy. Figured I would post this in here as well for those not on the 90's FB group. Love the shine on these!

I just found out about these cards with a random search for some Chipper Jones inserts. Amazing looking cards. Thanks for sharing. Can’t believe the deal I got. Will post a pic once it comes in. Any idea how thick they are so I can make sure I have a one-touch that fits it?

I agree, they're really nice. Elegant and sharp. And they're in all 4 sports, too, so you can really go crazy.

I pulled a Walter Johnson from that set back then. Sold it on ebay to a guy in Greece. I asked him why a guy from that area would buy it, and he said that with the Olympics coming he figured baseball would become popular so he was buying rare cards of the top tier HOF guys. I've always wondered how that worked out.

Baseball and Basketball are gorgeous.

Football is almost pointless.

Thank you. Yes they are, if a little "curly". It just arrived today.

Nice stuff! ^^

1998 Leaf Rookies and Stars Orlando Hernandez RC Holographic Longevity Parallel 1/1 -- Posted above by bbteamw. I likely overpaid, but a true 1/1 Yankees rookie card from 25 years ago which I had to have despite surface issues. Does condition really matter for such a card?

It’s pop of 1. Top of the pops.
