Yeah, very true. I definitely expect there to be a gap, I just didn't realize it was that much.

Agree I like 12 update, appearance wise to me I like the photo better on the 12. Even 12 base 10 are climbing now, I'm glad I grabbed what I did 2 years ago.

Agreed. Appearance wise I think it might actually be my favorite Trout card.

Congrats! The seller seemed honest. Aside from the centering being slightly off, the card looks good. Should grade well, my guess would be 8.5/9.0, maybe even higher. Good Luck!

I don’t think it’s a bad gamble at all.

I said this before, but the seller looks like a guy who bought a lot of Flagship up until 2012. Probably had this card sitting away forever, and finally decided now is the time to sell. If it’s trimmed, PSA can let you know that quickly enough to return within the 30 day window. It looks like at least an 8 to me from the images. I think it’s a very good pickup.

Not quite! I did ask the seller to overnight the card, and then I will overnight to BGS for 1-Day service. Hoping to have a grade in hand within a week.

Already found the card. Previously was a 10 with a 9.5 for surface.

Old pop report (still active when you search right now).

New pop report (visible when you search the slab ID #).

Updated list of non-black label 10s.

Now, nobody is stupid enough to crack this card and resub. I was under the impression that when a GCR was bumped, it kept the old serial number. That doesn't appear to be the case. So BGS was able to look through the slab and determine the surface was pristine and not gem mint as previously graded.

I bumped a Judge 9.5 to a Pristine. New serial number was issued and old one removed from pop report.

Seems like may have been a very very minor surface issue that original grader saw. maybe this new grader did not catch it.

Grading is subjective and one has to decide if it is worth paying 2-5X the premium for a black label compared to a Pristine card. All Pristines cards could have been Black labels and vice versa if graded by a different grader or by the same grader on a different occasion. Same with PSA 9's becoming BGS 9.5 since PSA does not have a 9.5 grade. I recently cracked three PSA 9's and submitted them to Beckett and they all came back as True Gem Mints! Waiting for "Grading is a scam", "buy the card and not the grade" responses....

EDIT: Having said this, I did purchase one black label of a different player because I didn't have any black label in my PC

I personally have zero interest in black label 10's. I'd rather pay a fraction of the price for a PSA 10, since I probably wouldn't be able to see the difference anyway.
