Hammer's old TN TJS auto 17/25 went for $20K on Goldin tonight. Translates to about a +50% premium for jersey #, so pretty reasonable. Imagine a lot of people are still traveling and not the best weekend to be selling.

It's not a bad image, it's just an awkward angle that doesn't work too well.

Yeah, could be worse for sure. But like you said, for the most photographed athlete in the US, you'd think they'd choose better.

The first two GHs were great with 1) A beautiful stadium club-like backdrop of the Big A and 2) Shohei doing a post-homer pimp walk at Dodger stadium. And now there's this awkward nosehole shot pointed up to the sky

Anybody know the print runs of '18 update inert colors? Maybe I missed it but not sure about black, blue insert colors. I've got a few Ohtanis in different colors but don't know the rarity. Got a couple blue 1983 and black lengend in the makings. I've never seen opinions on run. Thoughts?

Maybe the wrong thread to ask this question (lol), but I have a chance to pick up a 2018 Panini Flawless DM-SO2 /15 dual patch (player worn) for a rookie Trout parallel and Griffey worth approximately $3k in trade value. The Flawless card is raw and with a slightly dinged corner, would likely get a PSA 9 max. Still think it's a no-brainer as I don't really PC Trout or Griffey and I'm getting a /15 rookie Ohtani from a high-end set, albeit unlicensed?

Here's basically the same card minus being graded.

In general if the card has a black variant /299 (An international affair, 1983, Salute, instant impact, etc.) the blue variant is double the print run ~600.

For those that don't have a numbered black variant (future stars, legends in the making etc.) I was under the impression they were not able to be calculated. But I have seen other that say they estimate they are about the same (black ~300, blue ~600), but I have never been able to verify this claim by math.

BTW...In the past the blue variants have been flying under the radar for having such a low print run. But the blues have also been going up in value lately.

Which parallel RC Trout and which Griffey would you be trading?

Things to keep in mind...

It's unlicensed, no RC logo, potentially damaged, and unfortunately not game-used "The enclosed player used material is guaranteed by Panini"

Still a cool card though. What do the patches look like in your copy?

Well, the opportunity has since sailed, but it was a '11 Topps Update Walmart blue border PSA 9 Trout and a '88 Best Platinum San Bernadino Spirit Griffey PSA 8.

Still have a chance to acquire the Ohtani, but will have to be a different mix of cards. IIRC one patch was solid red and the other had a piece of a letter.

Pro move is to make the trade for the Ohtani, boost liquidity, sell, and buy something licensed. That is unless you have a particular affinity for the card.

I've been on a mini-bender picking up non-licensed 2018s lately. Lol I feel like the unlicensed RC/rookie year cards are still a relative bargain!

Would have been a good trade. The walmart blue has a pretty big pop between PSA 9 and PSA 10. Side note - didnt realize the 88 Best Griffeys sold for that much!

I put the value of the Flawless Ohtani at $2.5-3k depending on exact condition....if it could grade out to a 9, even better, but even an 8 I'm thinking it's still in the $2.5-3k range.

Last couple of Trout sales had been around $1-1.1k, but then 1 sold for $2.2k (!!) on Goldin last week, so I'm trying to strike while the iron is still hot if in fact the Goldin sale was inflated by a bidding war. Lol The 88 Griffey's pretty solid at $1k, but not the most liquid card and I really need to find a Griffey collector to get that value.

Being able to pick up 2018 Ohtani's without having to give up any Ohtani's is always a plus. Still on the hunt for a licensed on-card rookie auto, but that is obviously much harder, even dangling my 50/50 orange relic auto as a return.
