Idk, I always kinda hesitate on guys like Trae cause IMO the prices are just "low" in comparison to people like Luka or Giannis and when you compare him to someone like Chris Paul, a surefire HoF-er, Trae is still way higher. Like 20 years from now what's gonna be the deal with a NT RPA/99 people paid 4 or 5 figures for now with Trae compared to similar cards for Paul, Nash, Kidd? The market's just bananas still. IMO you only pay current prices to keep yourself from the headache of finding these 15 or 20 years from now if you're a Trae Young main.

A good portion of money always goes to current players, as it should. In that sense any holding from 2018 onward with the exception of ring holders, Luka, Ant, and Tatum, should be viewed as speculative and investment.
It could be Trae, it could be Ja, LaMello, or Zion, but you want to be close to the flame of who is actually winning and performing. Even though it is currently none of the above, all already have name recognition baked into their brand and thus deserve the elevated price to some extend. While the current teams actually performing... to give two examples off the top of my head, most people know Shai from underwear commercials, most people know Nesmith from his villain role, getting in between their favorite player and the basket. But then national exposure for teams like that doesn't come till the playoffs. Last edited by Nomad; 01-29-2024 at 07:05 PM. |
