Jordan rc’s are def starting to fizzle out. So glad I sold my bgs 9.5 back in February for 135k and paid off my mortgage

True, but I suspect a lot of those guys have sold. We’ve charted roughly 8% of the pop already this year, and those who bought in 2021 are almost all underwater.

You can also say those who bought over $600K have lost more money than those who were given the card for free have made.

PSA 10 market cap of ~$200 million at $600K-700K was definitely not sustainable. It was a recipe for disaster.

Pro tip buy high and sell low....wait that can’t be right why did all suckers pay crazy money on cardboard lol Market still falling. I see pre covid prices soon and then when psa sends the new graded cards back to flippers it will plummet even more.

$36k in 2016 to 290k. So 8x in 5 years which is quite nice but also a lot different than 7x in 16 months.

And maybe that 290k will be 200k next auction, I don't know. All I know is that people who believed in bubble prices got wrecked as many of us predicted.

You certainly would have done better buying, say, graded KD RPA/23 which have gone from $7k to over 100x that at last sale, over the same time frame. Or the Limited Logos of his which are up 18x.

All depends on how you look at it. I think this market has proven that the truly rare, desirable pieces hold their value and increase more than a care you can get anywhere.

I don't know what my 2007-08 Ultimate Commitment Lebron auto/triple patches /10 is worth, but you never see one for sale.

It will be interesting to see what it settles at by end of 2022. I have no idea, but still a great increase from 2016 prices. Perhaps next year is the time to buy a Jordan RC.

Summer 2016 was higher than Pre-Covid.

I don’t believe we dip that hard, but I’m also not willing to negate the possibility. It’s very possible this goes to $25K again, which would still be 20% gain in 3 years time frame which is above average for cards.

To negate the possibility of that price, which again would still be a 20% increase over a 3 year period (the card could be had for $20K cash at the 2018 National), means maybe we are still in the willful exuberance phase....

This card has crashed so hard from mid January to now, that if you buy it today, you will lose money on it tomorrow!

We all should have seen the writing on the wall with the POP report for this card. I don't know where the prices settle for this card, but if only 8% of it total population has changed hands in the past 2 to 3 months, it will continue to tumble, because I am still see listing after listing of this card in all grades. It is just endless!

Kinda sad to see this iconic card fall so hard from grace. Just my humble 2 cents.

Rumor has it that somewhere between 30-60% of the PSA 10 pop resides in one collection.

Sooner rather than later, the educated buyers [and ignorant who get educated one way or another] will realize paying 5-10x more for psa 10 over a good BGS 9.5 is just plain stupid.

What if some of us just flat out do not want BGS 9.5 slabs? I don’t care what the spread is. The PSA 10 is either a price I want to buy at, or it isn’t. I’ll buy the right BGS 8.5 and 9 all day to crack and send to PSA. But no way I pay a premium for a BGS 9.5 when I can buy a PSA 9 for a lot cheaper.

The price multiplier will continue to shrink btw psa 10 and true Gem BGS 9.5 on this card. Bubble boys/psa stans who said this card in psa 10 was just gonna go up forever were wrong then and twice as wrong now.
I called it in this thread and I have the receipts. #facts.

And if this card dropped to 100k this week you probably wouldn't buy it. You'd likely wait to figure out what was going on in the market first.

Unless you make a habit of catching falling knives.

If a copy went for $100k with Goldin, Heritage, or PWCC tomorrow, I’d buy it and send them $125k worth of cards to consign Tuesday to cover the cost. If it had to be cash, I’d need 2-3 weeks, but I’d get it done.

This was so easy to spot the manipulation, and the cheerleaders for the AH’s selling for stupid money were so easy to spot and their motives.
